Can anyone tell me what this means?

{“MediaResponse”:{“Status”:“failed”,“ErrorCode”:10,“Filename”:“???”,“StrError”:“No file data could be found in your post”},“FormSaved”:true,“DeliveryType”:“VIEW”,“Data”:“”,“InformMessages”:[{“CssClass”:“Dismissable AutoDismiss”,“Message”:“”}],“ErrorMessages”:“”,“RedirectUrl”:“”} It appears whenever I try and upload a file using IE 6. Firefox no longer works either.

What version of firefox? IE6 is seriously out of date- I would suggest updating it to 8 or 9 (dependant on your version of windows).

It’s Version 2.0.0.20. Windows ME won’t let me use later versions. Until quite recently IE 6 was fine. When that no longer worked I tried Firefox and that worked until early June this year. To the best of my knowledge I’ve made no changes to my system, which suggests that the ASP code for this site has been changed so that backward compatability is no longer supported. I would, however, like confirmation that this is the case or what tweaks I can make on my system.

That I cant help with. Maybe Opera would be worth a go? Windows ME? I havent used that in ten years. Your definitely getting mileage out of your computer!

Oh there is another browser called K-Melon that works with win9x and a project called KernelEx that could get newer browser versions going on ME.

Looks to me that it could be from a plug-in conflict. Did you recently install any new plug-ins before this started happening?

@PhilipS May be time for an upgrade from ME. Microsoft stopped supporting that five years ago now.

I can relate to not upgrading. PCs have become replicants, they have a built in life span. OSs are even worse. With that said, ME was a dud the day it was released. It was no more than an extended beta test for XP and MicroSlop knew it. The OS is based on faulty coding and is prone to memory leaks. I don’t know your PC specs but ME is terrible and if at all possible I’d grab an old copy of XP if you can run it. I’d rather run Linux or DOS 6.2 than ME. Its that bad. I’m still running Vista on a rebuilt Asus. Its your business tho but I’m just saying. If you ever want to see the HTML and scripts on a page, just right click your mouse and select View. The opening header at the top will usually tell you what version of XHTML the page is written in. I used to hide Easter Eggs in the code when I worked on web sites. I’d also get bored and toss in some gibberish Meta Tags to mess with the search spiders.

@spyro windows ME isn’t really related to Windows XP. XP is Windows NT, a fundamentally different OS. Now if he was running NT4…

Well, you can always switch to an OS with rolling releases (such as Arch Linux) if you don’t want the built in life span to be a factor. Of course, Arch is a bit of a nightmare to set up unless you’re really into tech and such, and know what the various config files you need to write do.

That was the supposed big selling point for XP, it offered the NT capabilities. My accusation of Microsoft was a bit exagerated for effect. They did scam the public with ME tho, the MS tech threads were flaming hot for a long time.

One thing I feel is worth mentioning, is that the built in life span can in many cases just be chalked up to the increasing speed of development. Moore’s law has generally held true, which as an end result states that computers power doubles roughly every two years. An average computer from last year is roughly 16x more powerful than those of 2000. Developer’s take new capabilities into account and make use of them. While it allows us to do more interesting things with our computers, it also results in us needing to buy a new computer more frequently. I think about once every five years is a fair schedule for buying a new computer. Of course, I basically waited until 7 came out until I upgraded from XP. Apparently windows 8 got leaked, although I imagine this is going to be one of the more crap MS releases. I’ll stick with Fedora and Arch Linux for my everyday OSes, though. Also, @bish777 , when I was working in my university’s IT department, I had a professor two years ago bring in his computer. He wanted us to fix it for him, but explicitly said he didn’t want us to upgrade it because he was used to to the way things worked in his version of windows and couldn’t get the hang of the new ones. He was running Windows 3.1x.

Run Linux and you always get FREE updates! I really like Linux Mint and Ubuntu
