About 14 of us went to Six Flags Magic Mountain today. I decided to just bring my snus, but my brother in law brought snuff in the bullet I gave him. As he went though the metal detectors it went off and he emptied his pockets. Once the snuff bullet was thrown in the basket the security called for backup. They literally had 4-5 security officers rush to the scene saying he had drug paraphernalia. He was trying to explain to them that it was used to take powdered tobacco because they didn’t know what snuff was. One of the officers kept boasting that it was a weed pipe. Finally after explaining over and over, and showing them the snuff the female security guard in charge said to let him through the gates. Poor brother in law, what a hassle.

There is a need to create general awareness among public about existence of snuff and its relative advantage compared to smoking.

Well… just because you are using it for tobacco doesn’t mean that it is not drug paraphernalia.

Well tobacco is as much a drug as many illegal substances, I’m not sure if that’s what you mean. But a soda can can be used to smoke ganja, in that case it’s what it’s used for that makes it considered paraphernalia or not, it’s also the reason that certain “utensils” can be sold in retail shops with a disclaimer about only using them for tobacco or legal herbs. I actually got “caught” somewhere by police with a dugout on me. Since it had only been used for legal smoking mixtures it was returned to me, with a question about what was in it, I explained it to them and they went on their way…

In high populated area’s the bullet, vial & spoon and the straw will always draw a red flag. If you see it in a head shop window you can figure that someone is always going to question it. Could you imagine what would happen if pipe smokers started using bongs in public (I’m laughing just trying to imagine it) Maybe when Snuff reclaims a solid place in public it will change

That’s another reason why I don’t like bullets… They are usually associated with snorted drugs! I was observed taking a pinch of snuff in an airport one time… Somebody called security. The security officer took my snuffbox and started to walk away with it. It was only when I LOUDLY accused him of THEFT (“Where do you think you’re going with my property?!”) that he reluctantly gave it back to me.

Did those awesome security guards ever get the gang-bangers out of that place? By the time I left Cali it was like East LA with rides. The only compensating factor was you were also rewarded with oppressive heat in the summer time. Awesome rides though. Despite all it’s shortcomings, it’s a good trip.

Brown powder… I bet those guards thought they discovered some newfangled gangbanger designer drug… Bunch o’ ingoramuses they are… I think their training should include better drug recognition than what they probably receive

The fact that petty larceny is a crime for which they can be arrested should also be brought up in their training!

I have a sneaking suspician that many airport security guards are wanna’ bes who flunked out of “Night Watchman School.”

Years ago a company I was working for demanded that all the supervisors take a class on how to identify drugs and theft. The class was only (2) hrs long and only touched each portion of the subject matter. I am sure that hasn’t changed

Ya’ think that airport security guards have a “Trophy Room” where they display legal things that they confiscated and got to keep just because the owner “didn’t want to make a scene?” Maybe they sell it on E-bay!

I do believe a lot of confiscated stuff IS sold on ebay… I used to go through ebay a lot looking for airport confiscation lots that have pocketknives. Cheaper alternative than buying new high-end knives.

…And that security guard that was boasting how sure he was that the bullet was a “weed pipe”. Duh! People like that, I just salute for all their hard work. Saluting at them like this…

kind of on topic . my brother who has never smoked has a habit of holding and pretending to smoke those small red straws when he is in a bar … he has had people complain to the manager well it is California afterall
