Buying Snuff in a store in London

R

Hello there! I am new to this forum and also still quite new to using snuff. I live in Austria where you can hardly buy good snuff in shops, so I mostly order online. This works quite fine but sometimes you would like to be inspired in a shop where you see and possibly smell new ideas. As I am a rather frequent visitor to London, does anybody have a hint where I find a shop with a good selection? I mostly stay around the Covent Garden area, so anything between Hide Park and Hounslow would be perfect. Any ideas? Thanks in advance Rudolf

R

perfect! Thanks a lot!

They seem to have a fine selection of a very fine brand - Frederick Trantner’s. Never tasted it, but have heard a lot about it… Won’t make it to the Queen this time, but next time I shall say “Hello” from you!

R

you are really very helpful, thanks a lot! can you give me a hint what high toast tastes like, I have heard about it and think I could like it, but have never tasted it.

E

Good suggestion @lunecat‌. There’s also Smiths just around the corner on Charing Cross Road (74 Charing Cross Road) if they’re still there. A wonderful walk in humidor too.

Wow, I will have a great time in London next time! And @lunecat, thanks for giving me those details

C

@EZSaddler - Unfortunately Smiths closed its doors for the last time a few years ago

Crap @chris‌ another one bites the dust. Used to love that place and without them I’d never have got into snuff.

C

@EZSaddler - yes it was a great shame. The owner also owned Shervingtons the tobacconist in Holborn and that closed at about the same time. That was a beautiful and very old shop and a sad loss.

My geography of London isn’t too good, but if you are near Victoria, then this shop is on Victoria Street, about halfway between Parliament Square and Victoria Station http://www.jayems.com

Thanks @Justin‌ I will bear that in mind when I go to London next time.
