My hot water heater has died! Sorry, just needed to vent.
Be careful Carol, those things are ticking time bombs. They can go through a two-storey building like it wasn’t even there! Provided that you have disabled all the safety features, ofc. And this too, you learned first from Mythbusters!
At least it died in July rather than January. I had one die on me in the dead of winter… not fun at all. My condolences, and I hope you have hot water again soon.
Cold water is nice though, in the summer I always take cold showers. lol Like a mountain man.
I hate taking a cold shower, don’t care how hot it is. Washing dishes with cold water doesn’t cut it either. I feel for you Sounds like you could write a song about it and play it on your uke!
Mine did about 2 years ago. It made quite a mess of the basement! Took opportunity from crisis and upgraded to a tankless-on demand type. Huge energy savings! Also no more risk of flooding the basement, at least not from the HWH.
wth is a hot water heater. If you have hot water it doesn’t need to be heated up. I bought a new 59 gal WATER HEATER this week also. my 28 year old WATER HEATER died this week. yea I know my mom always said…“everybody likes a piece of ass but nobody likes a smart ass”.
my antifreeze hose burst in my car and the hood was pouring smoke
cold showers always suck but man one winter my water heater went out and it really sucked because I was working in a kitchen at the time and there was no way I was not going to shower everyday till the thing got fixed.
bob, i work in a kitchen and if that had happened it would have been old fashioned pots of boiled water on the stove, in winter, at least. lol
My parents came from a small village in the Azores that didn’t get electricity until a year after they moved to Canada and boiling pots of water is how they took their baths. If that happened to me they would remind me of this and tell me to stop complaining.
I don’'t have any pots I can fit in. Nah the shower at this place was fine the tub not so fine. I didn’t really fit very easily in it.
My toilet needs replacing. The damn thing cost a fortune as its a Victorian repro, but the working parts are all garbage and have just rotted. Crap in eevery sense.
when in Qatar I went without running water for about two weeks, and people acted like “what are you making such a big deal about? You can just go wash up anywhere. Go to the shop across the street.” I had to stay on top of it for the whole time and finally the guy showed up with a water truck acting like I was just being a spoiled brat. “There’s no water, there’s no water, ehh??” AND I WAS PAYING FOR IT! Glad to be back in the States, where the water flows and the snuff comes from Scotland in tins.(instead of making my own.)
The only bummer is that I had to work today, but it’s almost over.
I have nothing to report, sir!
The bummer of my day today was that I couldn’t find my favourite milk chocolate nougat creme cookies anywhere. Jack needs his cookie ;_;
had a blowout in my '74 ford. funny thing is these are some tuff trucks, all steel and all. did a mess to the tire didn’t do anything to the truck.
Had a blowout at 80 mph while driving our E150 conversion vans with the whole family (wife and 3 kids) inside. In coming back from the beach traffic, in the fast lane, and a front tire, it was a pucker moment for sure. And some advice to everyone having a daily bummer, like I tell my kids, smile at every thunderstorm. Ken
Had to take my wife to the ER last night because of Afib in her heart. She is still in the ER waiting for a ICCU room in the hospital.
Sorry to hear that BPB. Just read that Ted Stevens died in a plane crash. The ex head of NASA was also on the plane.
did they finally say that he died
@bipolar, doctors might tell you this isn’t a serious matter but I can tell you, it is. My wife, 67, suffers from the same condition. In a young person something can still be done to rectify the problem. Please ask the doctors about it and don’t let them send you away with a"not to worry". It’s nothing to worry about now but if it’s not treated now, it might become very serious. Ask me, we’ve been through a lot of trauma recently because of a similar condition. You are in my thoughts.
BP Man I’m sorry to hear about your wife. I know ya’ll have had a time here of late. I second Pieter’s remarks: you will be in my thoughts and prayers as well.
Sorry to hear about your wife’s heart condition, BPB. Hope she is feeling better soon. Keep us posted – you and yours will be in my thoughts.
Thanks everyone. She was admitted this afternoon to the ICCU. i plan on spending a couple of hours with her and going home to bed. @Pieter Claassen- Thanks for the advice and hope all is well with your wife. I’ll keep you updated.
Hope they get her heart under control, Bipolar. Kind of makes you forget about the trivial things in life when they tell you that you have heart trouble…hope all goes well, there!
Lost an almost full tin of Tom Buck today while cycling. The irony of the whole matter is that, who ever finds it, won’t know what to do with it. I still have another 2 or 3 tins in the freezer.
Best wishes BP. My wife comes home tomorrow after a 3 month tussle with necrotizing faciitis. Don’t forget to take care of YOU at the same time. I got myself to the verge of breakdown in the ordeal.
@bipolarbear, have you got any news for us regarding your wife?
I found my tin of Tom Buck in the house, never had it with me on the bike!
@ Zanaspus- I know the feeling. My wife causes me to have near breakdowns even when she is 100% (lol) I hope all is well with you two. @Pieter- They stabilized her heart rate and rhythm with medicine. We’re hoping she’ll be released on Friday. How’s your wife? Come to think about it, this is the third time she’s been in the hospital this year alone. Twice for AFib and once for the RA.
> Horrayy! Good news for the bummer’s thread
Hope all is well BPB, you are in my thoughts. Stefan
Well, my dad is gonna float me a loan for a *Water Heater* so soon I won’t be having to boil my bath and dish water!
Wife is discharged from the hospital and back home as I type. Thank you everyone.
That’s good to hear. Hope she remains in good health.
Good news, BPB, happy to hear it.
@ Bipolarbear, glad to hear that. But you must work on that problem and get it sorted out completely.
@Bipolarbear: I have had problems with a-fib. They tried a variety of drugs including Toprol (metoprolol is the generic) and none of them did much good. Finally a doc gave me one of the oldest and cheapest drugs, Atenolol, and it fixed me right up. Everyone is different, but there are things that work.
Nachman, she’s been on Atenolol for 25 years due to her high blood pressure. I wonder if her dose his high enough…25mg twice a day…used to be 50mg twice a day. They also have her on Rythmol and Digoxin. The Doc said her AFib may be due to sleep apnia, the oxygen dipping down low.
I am taking 50 mg of Atenolol twice a day. If I miss a dose in a few hours I am in a-fib. Recently I went to the hospital and they took me off Atenol. I told them that was a mistake. When I almost died they decided I was right.
