This may have been already asked but here goes… My snuff gets stuck in my bullet. Is it an over fill issue or are they not as convenient as I’ve been led to believe? Is there a good way to carry snuff when out and about? What works best for all of you?

V

@ghsthntr:Whether a bullet’s effective or not as a snuff carrier/dispenser depends entirely on the snuff you fill it with: dry, finely-ground SP-types are okay, but anything with a coarser grind or any level of moistness will just clump together inside the bullet and not come out.

I’ll second Vostok–you must choose the snuff for the bullet, AND don’t overfill. I really like the Posh bullets, but they, too, will not dispense moist and/or coarse snuff. Toques work well, as do many WOS. My favorite NB Madras works well, so to most of the toasts and SPs I’ve tried. Of course, if you go too fine (White Elephant, for instance), you’ll likely not like the results.

Thanks for the insight. I will look for a finer snuff.

@ghsthntr - I jut wanted to add that I hope you’re not thinking of limiting the snuffs you use on account of the dispenser. This is a bit like looking through the telescope from the wrong end. I started out two years ago exactly the same as you - bought a bullet because it appeared the most convenient method of carriage/dispensing and then put snuff in it that ‘didn’t work’. Have a look for other things to carry your snuff in. If you don’t have a lot of cash to throw at this, then on MrSnuff there are plastic snuff boxes (please can we have the Snuffhouse ones back in stock pretty please), smash boxes (10gram probably the best) etc that are good value for what they do. I saw you introducing yourself on another thread but can’t remember if you’re in the UK or USA right now ( it’s a bit late and I’ve had a few pints!), but in any 5-and-dime or equivalent like a 99p Shop in the UK you might happen upon cheap containers that will do the job - in other words they’re airtight and portable. They don’t have to look like they were made for snuff to be suitable for carrying it. Just give yourself the widest possible range of containers to allow yourself the widest possible enjoyment of all the snuffs you can get your hands on and your nose into. It’s a learning curve but a great one we’ve all been through. Happy snuffing!

An inexpensive way to carry a days worth of snuff is empty snus containers. They can be a bit big for this purpose but they are pretty sturdy and very close to airtight depending on the can. Actually the ones that mini portions come in are quite perfect size though they are harder to come by.

While not an expert on bullets , I’ve found that some of the eBay Chinese ones are poorly made and may have plastic billings blocking the ‘spoon’ part .you may want to take yours apart and check.

“Milling” not billings! Spell check

By no means! One of the things I find enjoyable about snuff is the different things to try. One of the most difficult things I’ve found is trying to find quality descriptions for the different brands. But back to the bullet, it is really simply an issue of finding what works best in one. I’ve come up with a couple solutions. After looking through this forum a bit more, I tried the bullet to poor man’s cup method which I’ve found works real well. I also have tried a different mix in the bullet and that has helped also.
