Bullet oil/maintenance

D

Ok question, what type of oil or lubricant should be used on the little rubber ring of a snuff bullet? I have an acrylic one from mr snuff and that ring is sticking bad… Ken

F

id say get another. im not sure any lubricant is a god idea when it comes to using snuff through it, but otherwise id use silicone, but in tiny amounts.

D

Well for now a minor bit of saliva has been my temporary solution between cleaning it. And I know it is a cheap acrylic bullet but the same ring would get used in a metal one so I can’t see throwing the baby out with the bath water as a practical solution. Yes this is my first bullet on a side note. So so far I was thinking the best options would be things that have food stuff or medicinal usage as opposed to machinery usage. So my short list so far was: Mineral Oil Olive Oil Canola Oil Ken

T

@devillock76 I’ve used vegetable oil with much success. Olive oil or corn oil. You just need the tiniest amount. Probably have to apply weekly.

D

I was thinking it would be a sparing amount. Like a quick swab with a q-tip should do, if even. Ken

T

@devillock76 yup that should do it. I just pull and clean the o-ring, clear the opening of any snuff, and oil both the opening and the ring along with the little turn cylinder.

L

Do not use vegetal oils, they will make the rubber brittle and go rancid. try medical grade Vaseline. care for rubber with talcum powder - no perfume. Patrick B. Ludwig

N

^ You can also use corn starch if you ain’t got talc

N

I had the same issue and used saliva as a quick fix too lol. I noticed after I started only filling it up half way it just stopped jamming and hasn’t stuck for over a week but that may have nothing to do with it.

D

Talc…? That seems counter intuitive…

B

KY Jelly

D

Hahahhaa

L

Perhaps counter-intuitive, @devilock76 my dear friend, non the less effective as any scuba-old timer or owner of an old rubberised air mattress will confirm. But what, please, is KY Jelly? The joke is entirely beyond me - unless of course, @basement_shaman is confusing the vas nefandum with an o-ring. In which case, I recommend applying the substances in question directly to the nose. Best regards Patrick B. Ludwig

F

i suggested silicone since i think its good for rubber. id avoid food oils, but i think silicone is healthy enough.

D

@Ludwig_1954, I stand corrected, it certainly does work. I tried it on a whim figuring what him could it do. Sure enough problem solved. Oh and ky jelly is a water based lubricant marketed for, um, intimate times…
