Please read my FULL question. I have been using snuff for YEARS. And have only used it at home or work (behind a desk), so I never needed a bullet. I now drive for a living, so I needed to get one, for easier access. I am able to snuff ( pinch, snorter, box car, you name it) with out sneezing very fine and very dry snuff. So my experience is not in question here. And I have searched the internet and bought the best bullet out there. Holds about a gram to a gram amd a half and holds a HUGE scoop, so the bullet is not the problem either. When I start to sniff, I dont get any snuff. I SLOWLY increase the strength of airflow and all of a sudden I get the full blast in a clump. I switch to a high dry toast or American scotch and have no problem. Any snuff that has any moister does this. (And I have tried different bullets) are there any suggesrions?
There is nothing you can do, moist snuff just doesn’t work well in bullets.
Yes that’s the problem with moist snuffs. Maybe you can use a tapbox, as you can open them with one hand, and take some off the back of your other hand. You should be able to keep 1 hand on the wheel during the whole procedure. Other than that, you’d have to design a better bullet, or find a spring loaded tap box.
I agree with the above posts. Bullets work well (theoretically) with any substance that is meant to be snorted deep into the sinuses, and not so well with something like snuff that needs to be placed gently into the front of the nose. The Patrick Collins snuffboxes with the tap holes work great while I am driving.
yea. it is a nice theory. It just seems that no matter how shallow of a sniff i take, it is impossible to not get a throat hit. As i said, i have been snuffing for YEARS, and i thought I was just doing it wrong. well when driving, i guess ill just wait for the red lights and whip out one of my tap boxes.
In general I have found drier snuffs are the best choice in a bullet. I use mine mainly only for driving. Mostly what I put in there is Dahlokia Sparrow Cool. Ken

@pvogieguy2007 I’m a little confused. You say you have been using snuff for years and are able to pinch, snorter, box car, you name it, you have it down. That’s great! Your original question seemed to be that you are frustrated that moist snuffs don’t work well in a bullet and do any of us have any suggestions. The most accessible suggestion so far from @LincolnSnuff was to just abandon the snuff bullet and use a snuff box or tap box. Which you seemed to like the idea of, but then said you would get throat hits no matter what. So I’m confused as whenever I use a snuff bullet I actually find it all to easy to get a throat hit. But you seem to prefer a bullet but don’t want a throat hit from any other method…but you are also very comfortable with any other method…so not sure how to proceed to help you out. I think unless you can find a large bore bullet, or make one yourself, bullets + moist snuff = not working good. Pinches or off the back of your hand seems to cause you throat hits. So I don’t really know what to suggest.
I use a bullet when driving to and from work. I spend about 3 hrs on the road daily. When I have a very clean bullet, I’ll get a couple decent hits. After that, though, same problem. What I end up doing is flipping it upside-down, unscrewing the cap where you fill the bullet, holding the bullet under my nose, bottom up, and gently sniffing while tapping the outside very gently with my finger. Takes a couple tries to get it down, but now it’s no problem snuffing and driving.
This may sound crazy but…what about letting just enough of your moister snuff out to dry out a bit.No Im not saying to let a whole 50 gram tub dry out but maybe a few grams at a time just enough to get you thru the day. I have left some of my favorite moister snuffs in a snuffbox for weeks at a time and while they have dried out they are still quite useable and good in my opinion. Myself I now put my all day snuff in one of the nice metal 25 gram tins that stuff like Sharrow Mentholated comes in and I pinch from that while driving.I was a long time moist snuff user[think Copenhagen] so I was already accustomed to taking pinches out of such a tin while driving.
Hello @pvogieguy2007 - I have a couple of suggestions: I think that @outlawmobile makes a reasoned point about letting the snuff dry slightly. Also, you could try altering the position of the bullet in the nostril; when I first started using one I did used to get throat hits, but I found putting the bullet in at a more horizonal angle made a big difference to this, as the snuff is more diffuse and stays lower in the nose. Alternately, have you considered (or tried) using a snuff box with a sliding lid? Although not quite as ‘single hand friendly’ as a bullet, sliding and pinching is a lot easier than fiddling with lids etc. Finally, I’m guessing that you’ve already tried loading the bullet to the position that a portion is ready, then covering the nose hole with your finger and giving it a shake (or inverting) to break it up a bit in the delivery hole prior to insnuffilating? Good luck with it anyways!
i have no problem with a bullet i can get t where i need it to be better than with a pinch suprisingly
You could incorporate a tiny metal bowl screen used for glass pipes ( they are easy to cut and resize ). I’m new to snuff and never even touched a snorter bullet but if you shoved a pipe screen in the bullet under the little stopper chamber it may make it less clumpy for moist snuffs or it may clog up the bullet however It’s the only thing I can think of and since I never have owned a bullet I’m just blowing smoke, lol
