I had a tin of Bruton from 2020 I got from mrsnuff, and I picked up a small cache of cans from folks I found whose family members who used it died. This tin made in 2022 is similar, but there’s a much more musty basement odor to it, maybe that and dried rotting leaves (I know, this is basically what fermenting for years produces) I know snuffs batch-to-batch have their differences, but has anyone else noticed this? Of course a lot of scotches have it, but this is weird, it smells like wet leaves in the fall. Just strange that the other tin didn’t have that at all.

Was the tin opened or sealed? If opened I would use caution, the mustiness may be mould. Even if sealed if you suspect any moisture might have got in, same advice.
It was sealed, no evidence of it being wet, I think it may just be the batch. No visual mold or anything like that. The person I got it from had a father had died and has his name written on the front so I guess he was in an old folks home. There’s nothing really foul about it, just has a tinge of something I wasn’t expecting judging on my prior can. I’ve got a few more cans coming from someone else so I’ll have to compare, I have a feeling it just may be the tobacco.
