British law say no to making oil based snuffs ?. Any ideas as to why ? i have looked on the internet but can not find out the answer ?
The law was written before food grade mineral oils existed, so that left only vegatable or animal based oils. Both of those will decompose and go rancid, some types rather quickly. So its a law to protect people from getting sick by unknowingly buying rancid snuff. Germany has a similar law, but the law allows for synthetic oils to be used. Most German snuffs are traditionally oil based and at one time used degradable oils quite routinely, making freshness all that more important.
Ah thanks it makes sence now mate thanks for that info ! I could not find anything on the net !
I think the idea that that the laws were made to preclude adulteration with any number of sometimes very nasty things that were not tobacco is part of the set. Philips knows all about these things.
