Hi all, just wanted to share a bit of luck I had recently. A co-worker was going to Brazil, and the day before he left, I said, almost jokingly, “Hey, if you see any Brazilian snuffs, bring some home for me!”. I was mostly joking because he’s not a tobacco user, and probably wouldn’t find himself in a place that had snuffs for sale. But as luck would have it, his son-in-law in Brazil is a snuff-taker, and he brought these back for me: He said that it’s not very common in the cities, but as you get out into the countryside, snuff is still pretty common. All are very good. All medium/course, no powders here. Be careful opening them, as they’re like mini 5g versionsof the Wilsons of Sharrow tins – an over-filled mess waiting to happen! Moeda Cristal - Almost a bit like O&G with an added hint of imburana. Maybe a little less menthol than that and a bit more camphor than O&G, but it’s probably the most cooling of the four. Rapé Dunorte Imburana Fumo - The most unusual of the 4 here, it’s still a bit mentholated, but only very lightly so. It’s a bit smoky and there’s a stronger imburana scent than Cristal Rapé Dunorte Cravo - also mentholated, and cravo da india means clove. I didn’t pick out the clove at first, it seemed more floral, but I’m always terrible at picking scents until I’m told what it is.
lastly, the Rapé Pai João, might be my favorite, but I can’t say what scent it is. It’s also mentholated, not as much as the Cristal, but more than the other two. Definitely some other scents going on there, but I’m going to have to take more time with it to pick them out. The label just says, “Health and Pleasure”, which is a great label on a snuff in these days of horrible warnings. I didn’t notice any effects of imburana beyond that of the nicotine, though the imburana fumo was probably the strongest of the pinches. So what’s imburana smell like? Well, since these snuffs are my only reference, it smells like these snuffs. lol. I can’t really describe it, but it’s slightly herbal/floral, I guess. But it’s unique, and I can’t remember smelling anything like it. So it’s worth trying just for that. Anyhow, it was a great unexpected delivery. Keep your eyes peeled, they’re worth finding!
www.snuffstore.de offers some brazillian snuff.
What a stoke of luck! Those are good finds. I’ve only had the Moeda Cristal before of those four. The others are from companies I’ve not gotten hold of yet, but I have had several of the Moeda ones. Imburana is a unique scent, and quite good. I wish it wasn’t exclusive to Brazilian snuffs. Maybe Toque could do one, so we could have better access to it. What say @Roderick?

and jaxons has a lot more variety then I thought.
In rapé Pai João is written “health and pleasure” lol. I just tried the Moeda, the other brands I never saw here in my city. And my favorite brazilian snuffs are with Imburana, it has a unique, smokey scent.

Lucky indeed, and glad I asked! Xander, before I got these, I had read your reviews of the Cristal. That’s probably why I mostly compared them all to the Cristal! After reading your reviews, the expectations you set were the only ones I had. I agree, after trying these, @Roderick should do an Imburana! @braziliandipper: Thanks for (indirectly) pointing out the ã in João. I will edit/update my original post appropriately. I think I suspected the tilde belonged there, but it was hard to say for sure just by looking at the tin. There’s a mark there, but without knowing for sure, it might have been a printing glitch on the tin. It’s been a long time since I studied Portuguese, and even then I only got to Portuguese II. But I will fix my post.
