I’m sure a lot of snuffers also do this: I’ve made a blend of 3/4 Toque Quit and 1/4 Toque Spanish Gem in my snuffbox. I’m also considering making some other blends like Grand Cairo + Toque Original but first I’ll finish what I started. Any suggestions?
Just order toque peanutbutter going to mix some Samuel Gawith peppermint dark with it. Dholakia swiss chocolate with molens latakia for that extra kick. I have done the peppermint with the swiss chocolate what a sensation.I could go on and I am sure you will find some great combos. Like pizza and beer
@basement_shaman I already have ordered the Peanut Butter a few days ago, Molens Latakia is on my bedside - love it. I’ll try your suggestion in my next order. Btw, do you find “Toque Quit” that strong? I have a high tolerance to nic thanks to snus, so I don’t feel much.
I like to mix things in my nose atm. Just 10 minutes ago I had WoS Irish Toast and Toque Spanish Gem, and then had some Toque Bourbon. Toasts can create some interesting flavours, I take a pinch of something, and then improvise to whatever takes my fancy. When you’ve just had a pinch of something, the next one takes on a different flavour, and I find it easier than mixing the powders together before unless something really stands out.
@Theatre of course! I have some six flavours in my rotation that I use according to the situation. It’s interesting to feel the flavours change and interact in my nose. For example, going from Kendal Brown to Molens’ Latakia is a very interesting transition. But I also have a snuffbox specifically for blended flavours, since I like to have something flavourful like toque original but more subtle and less runny on the nose for the regular anytime pinch and I think that existing flavours are either too bland or too strong for that purpose.
@OscarWabbit thanks for the info! That is exactly my intention: a lighter aroma to suit the day-to-day use. By the way, how do you differentiate the base for Spanish Gem, since “quit” and “natural” essentially smell the same (to me, at least).?
Quit smells very different to natural. Your nose will pick up the difference in time (or not, all our noses vary in what they can and can’t smell). When Spanish gem goes slightly stale and loses much of its aroma, the quit base tobacco becomes identifiable.
HDT and Irish 22 make a more well rounded toast and compliment each other enough so that there are hints of Buttery flavor of HDT and subtle smokiness of 22. Same could be accomplished though by taking successive pinches of the two. Anyway, its one I like. I’m curious to know what are some “Frankenstein mixtures” you created that turned out to be horrible?
Once I tried mixing pretty dry Toque - Rose with Dholakia - Chocolate, the result was less than palatable, with the “green” aroma of the rose spoiling the sweetness of the chocolate, maybe with a more fresh flowery rose snuff will have fared better…
