I had been resisting placing a specific order for this for a while, but finally broke down and placed an order for a bunch of the new Wilsons snuffs, along with the Attar of Rose, Blenders Bundle, and the Cafe Noir. These three snuffs have received pretty rave reviews, and the Attar of Rose certainly lives up to the hype. The Cafe Noir was charged and not shipped, then refunded (need to follow up!), and lastly the Blenders Bundle has almost nothing going for it, just really faded flavor, hard to pick out what was going on there originally. Really disappointed, can someone who knows this one tell me if it should be so subtle? It seems to me to be old and dried out, not any real presence in the nose. Ermtony and Xander had glowing reviews, and I have compared so many snuffs to their reviews, that I am sure something is wrong. I mean this stuff is real subtle, like a Molens that has given up the ghost, dry and has to sit in the nose quite a while, as I struggle to get any Malt, yeast, Hops, chocolate, or any other redeeming flavor at all. I noticed that the glowing reviews are Year or so old, and this is sold from bulk. Maybe just old. I just really had my spider senses revved up for this one, and was just left there with my party hat on and nothing showed up!
I got mine about a month ago. I put it in a heart type wooden box. It was very, very good then, and still is. I gave some to a friend he didn’t care for it, I love it, long lasting in the nose and progresses slowly throughout mentioned (above flavours)…Ed
I’m still working on the same 10g sample as in that review. It definately loses flavor when it gets old. It kind of tastes like stale bread now. I was thinking about ordering more and freezing it, since Tim supposedly got a new batch in. It was out of stock for awhile.
I managed to hydrate and build a little flavor, but revived some florals, was not expecting that! My 30 gram (three 10 gram bags) order was delivered a little over two weeks ago, I assumed new stock. This is a strange development indeed! The Attar of Rose was worth the effort though, believe in the reviews. I placed another order so as to get more rose, and hopefully the Cafe Noir. I have WoW coffee bite, and find it as good as Dholakia swiss chocolate, as far as a morning sweet treat, and was sure that the Cafe Noir would be a treat at times as well. I use these types of snuff on occasion, and appreciate the uniqueness of these blends for what they are. I have a tray of about 25 snuffs in front of my keyboard, all in super airtight containers, and I love to just smell some of them from time to time, or snuff, whatever, but the variety is the key, and coffee is a great note to have in the range.
