Bezoar

I just took a sniff of my 198th different snuff. This is definately the last for awhile. I promise this time. It happened to be Dean Swift Bezoar. I just looked up what Bezoar means: wikipedia entry for Bezoar Have a chuckle on me. I’ll let you know before I’m ready to celebrate my bicentenarian.

very medicinal I guess is the idea behind the name

That hairball is not nice. And I have a Maine Coon cat too.

LOL. Apparantly ancient people thought it was a universal poison cure. I think that’s what they were going for in the name… but still…lol.

Eeeuuw! I quite liked the name until I clicked on that link. Whose bright idea was it to name a snuff after something your cat chucks up?

People eat lots of strange things when you think about it. What is ambergris really? What about honey?

I try to keep such things out of my mind when using this snuff. Very strong aniseed/camphor scent, which I love, and the nicotine seems quite high to me which is another attraction.

Any speculation about how they named Inchkenneth?

Its a Scottish island, I think. Probably a tiny one like St. Kilda or the one they get curling stones from.

A bezoar stone was the last ditch ‘medicine’ for doctors in the 17 and 18th centuries. The dying king Charles the Second, at great cost, was apparently rubbed with one and given it to hold.

@Xander I figured as much, but it still gives me a rude chuckle. At least when Kenneth goes out in his Kilt on a windy day he won’t be getting an ASBO for flashing, I guess.

I have an unopened tin of this stashed away and this thread is giving me cause for concern :stuck_out_tongue:
