Which do you think is the best snuff to use when quitting cigarettes? I live in South Africa and the last time i quit i used Magnet Menthol but soon got tired of it. Now i’m hooked on Taxi Red which i now think is great. Any thoughts… Thanks for the replies in advance.

Elmo’s Reserve - excellent snuff and strong nic hit

I would go for an Indian white. Start with small pinches and work your way up, very rewarding in the end. Also, theese snuff are so fine grind that they seldom clog you up and the backdrip is quite nice, actually white indians are some of the few I like the backdrip from.

A Madras snuff, a white snuff, or a strong South African would be my first choice. I actually think the closest of those three in feeling to taking a pull on a cigarette is the Madras, a couple of small piles off your hand give you a strong punch just like taking a couple large hits on a cigarette. They’re all very strong, but white snuffs and south african snuffs feel a little different to me.

Having used snuff as part of a quit smoking (cigarettes) strategy, my best answer to this would be whatever snuff you find you can use on a regular basis without getting bored or overwhelmed by it. Don’t focus on the nicotine, focus on replacing one habit with another. The behavioural side is the bigger challenge of the two. I am also supplementing the snuff with a bit of vape and pipe smoking, but those two are both being “needed” less frequently as time progresses, and are becoming more enjoyable rather than a nic replacement “therapy” as patches and gum are sold as

Is the one you can enjoy the most. Every nose is different. Some snuffers can use moist snuff all day Some can use fine snuffs all day. Some are exclusively menthol . Fine snuffs deliver nicotine faster and Moist snuff the nicotine last longer. Snuff won’t give you the same buzz as a cigarette so you should use snuff prior to needing it for your nicotine fix.

For me, the most successful strategy is to do what I feel like doing when I feel like doing it.  If I want a vape, I’ll have a vape; if I want a pipe, I’ll have a pipe - same with snuff, snus, and cigarettes.  If I have a death-stick, I don’t beat myself up over it.  This strategy seems to take a lot of the obsessive element out of it.

Can’t agree enough with 50ft_trad here. And just keep pinching until the craving is gone. Eventually you’ll be shocked, instead of your lungs craving, it’ll be your schnoz.
