This may seem a bit obvious, but I was wondering what your favorite is when under the weather. Right now am suffering through a bad cold with nasty sore throat that makes me sound like Darth Vader.

Hedges beats the crap out of a cold for me.

I use a combination of echinacea and goldenseal powders. 

WoS Honey Menthol.

I have a menthol that clears my nose straight away, I imagine those would be best. The one that works best for me is the cheapest one I have surprisingly I bought it from a newsagents.

I avoid anything medicated and just go very plain. I had a sinus thing all Xmas and Ive been using plain Quit, natural, dholakia white, anything else just closed me up for hours on end.

I don’t have much experience with variety, but I know plain american scotches have kept my sinuses clear during a sinus infection I had not long ago. Just getting over it actually.

SG Black Rappee. Clears my tubes every time.

SM Blue, followed by something toasted.

Ive been sick for a few days now, Doppelaroma Schmalzler with a light amount of the menthol mix sachet added does it for me. The apple flavor goes good with hot apple cider, and the slight touch of menthol helps the breathing. Feels like everything in my chest gets loosened up.

Since i am new to snuffing, I haven’t had a cold while snuffing.  However my sinuses close up at least once a day if I sniff to much.  I wonder if I am doing something wrong or if I need a different snuff, like the ones you have mentioned for a cold.

Thanks for the suggestions and I will say that Snuffster’s blend of 50/50 OandG and Tom Buck is helping me feel more human today. Now if the body aches and chills would subside I would feel ok.

I’m with snufster on this one.  You may get some comfort with menthol’s, it’s short term and you will get blocked up worse!  Go for a fine dry snuff like HD Toast, or American Scotches. 

Trying some F&T HDT now and will report back with results.

May I suggest one of the Americans, rooster perhaps.

Three Thistle Strong and WOS SM Blue.

I find Indian snuffs quite clearing - Dholakia Ganga or White, or Himalaya (which has menthol) have all helped me out.

F and T mostly cause it’s neat to experience you sense of smell comeing back in incraments. It like a reverse disection.

SM Blue, 6 Photo Medicated, 6 Photo Kailash, 6 Photo Special, 6 Photo Anarkalia.

If you prefer dryer snuffs, try 6 Photo Medicated No. 66 – but you won’t get as much of a decongestant kick as you will with 6 Photo Medicated…

Didn’t feel much clearer after some HDT, so I went back to OandG and then J&H Wilsons No. 99 and felt nearly instant relief. Must try some 6 Photo Medicated and will order some soon.

I just suggest using your favorite snuff with a dash of menthol snuff added. Or using a schmalzer alongside a box of tissues.

I would stay off it now in all honesty. I think I prolonged my sinus infection by refusing to stop snuffing. If its a mild cold, a dry, plain snuff will do more than a menthol because of the lack of rebound congestion but steam and two aspirin will do a lot more just not as pleasantly.

Dry plain, yes. I seem to have popped up with another sinus infection myself. Solution? Lay down, tilt head back, tap snuff directly from bottle into blocked nose.
