Best of Bernard

If I don’t get any more unexpected bills I plan to pick up some more bernard snuff in the next couple of weeks so can I have suggestions on what to try. I’ve already tried their beer one and the Brasil Dopplet Fermentiert which I think are both stuinning but I want more. PS. No menthol ones as my nose doesn’t agree with menthol at all.

Aecht altbayerischer or old Bavarian ought to hit the mark. Similar to the brasil dopplet. Chrismas pudding for the nose. Ive also got klostermischung but i’m not fond of snuffs with leather notes underneath.

Gekachelter Virginie

Gekachelter Virginie

one of the bestest snuffs of all times. I go through this one surprisingly fast.

Fichtennadel the best woody menthol snuff, resinous fresh totally unique if you like cedar fir and pine needles

I support @Nikolaos statement and will go as far as to say that it is the best German menthol and a direct competitor with Hedges and O&G to the first place among menthols in general. Klostermischung is heavy on the nose but it’s the best and most complex schmalzler I’ve tried so far, with its notes of rum and perhaps light coffe (and having account of your preferences you’ll surely like it). Steife Prise is a strong menthol with a delectable, biscuit-like base. It’s a snuff that requires training (and that tends to clump a lot) but once you are familiar with it it can become one of your dailies. Zweifacher is a (quite popular) halb-schmalzer, kind of a mix of Pöschl’s Alpina with something almost tropical and a smoky Schmalzler. To me, it’s not THAT good but it’s a great snuff to try nevertheless. Anyway, I trust any Bernard Brothers product to be top notch. (BTW, I haven’t read your PS so disregard EVERY of my recommendations except for Klostermischung: that is the one you have to try)

And I will throw in one that I like is Postillion. It is dark, moist and with a definite smoky background, but no menthol at all. Cheers!

Bernard menthols have demonstrated to me that it’s not the menthol that kills my nose. Or in other words try the Zeifacher.

Feinster Kownoer

My favorite Bernards are (in order): • Bernard Brasil Doppelt Fermentiert • Bernard Klostermischung • Bernard Fröhliche Weihnachten • Bernard Magic Moments Black • Bernard Postillion • Bernard Civette Extrafein I don’t care much for the other Bernard snuffs. Just my opinion. Please note that none of the above contain menthol as far as I can tell. I really do not like menthol unless it is used wisely as in the case of Abraxas Dragun Menthol. In other words, if it has menthol to enhance flavors, that is fine as long as I do not detect it. But if you like the Bernards, I would humbly suggest that you also try the Sternecker Echt Fresko

Definitely Schmalzlerfranzl. I’ve always liked Bernard for the “traditional” German style snuffs so Klostermischung should be one. Kownoer and Civette are quite different, coarse and somewhat dry but still good. Personally I also put the Alt Offenbacher Köstlich on the must have list if you enjoy Schmalzler type snuffs.

Thanks for the answers guys Ill be making my purchase sometime soon hopefully.
