Best Lime & best Lemon snuffs aroma and lasting?
I have USA Lime thanks to a nice pal on this forum Just wondered is there others as good or better ?
Toque’s Lime Toast is a favorite for me. You should definitely give it a try. It’s pretty easy to take, in my opinion for a toast as well and the lime scent mixed with the toasted tobacco pairs excellent. I’ve never had the USA Lime so I can’t compare but if it’s made by Toque it’s probably good.
I’ll second the Lime Toast. Lovely stuff.
I’ll third it. I’ve been with it all day. The lime flavour is very well balanced and delicate; its not overpowering in your face, which is great because you can still detect the tobacco-nuttiness in the background not just an “extreme lime experience”…that and the nic level is very satisfying. I’m really impressed with Toque citrus so far…just the right sweetness and tang.
McChrystal’s Mild Lemon is mild in the sense of the tobacco being not too harsh, but the lemon scent is very distinctive, and quite a pleasure.
@cpmcdill YES! I was just going to recommend Mild Lemon. Easily my favorite lemon snuff. It’s delightful.
As much as I absolutely love limes, and lime juice or essence in cocktails, pies, and even colognes, I have never yet enjoyed a lime-centric snuff. They have all come across like some kind of urinal puck. Huge disappointment, as a lime fan.
Other lemon snuffs which are pretty good but may not fit your criteria: Wilson’s of Sharrow Lemon Toast and Lemon Grove. I like these two a lot, though the lemon scent takes a back seat to the tobacco scents. Still nice, but the citrus note fades quickly.
There’s a reason why bergamot as a citrus rules in snuffs and other smokeless tobaccos. It has the most pronounced and lasting citrus note of all. Toque SP Extra is a bergamot bomb, and the bergamot note in J&H Wilson’s Top Mill no. 1 has the most sublimely refined use of bergamot of all the SP family.
Old Mill Limoncello.
Although it doesn’t strictly belong in here, I am a huge fan of WoS Thyme and Lemon. I do like Lemon Grove as well, but the Thyme and Lemon beats it for me.
I didn’t like Toque lime but I do like the Toque Lime toast. And Wilson Lemon toast. I often add the zest of lime or lemon to Dholakia White for flavor and slight hydration. That is a great way to get the fresh flavor. I also use banana peel .Orange zest,Grapefruit zest,Pear skins, Green Apple skin, fresh picked flowers,Mint leafs and lemon balm herb.Honeysuckle, And hot Oregano herb for Italian flavor.I am hesitant but curious to try Garlic and Onion. I would like to collect the aroma of cooking onion, peppers and cheese steak to flavor a snuff. I think it could be done with a pressure cooker with an attached coiled hose submersed in ice water and caught in a glass. Now to find a second hand pressure cooker.Â
@basement_shamen Lemon balm sounds rather cunning, and I have an abundace of that at the moment. Just leaves, or leaves and sprigs, and do you only use this on plain and SPs? As to garlic and onions, I have some ramsons growing in the garden right now… worth a try? Thanks for the insights
@50ft_trad Whites, Toasts, and Scotch. my Sp are in good shape. I may just use the greens from the onion & garlic .As for the lemon balm i let the leaves attached easier to retrieve over night then picking out individually Â
@basement_shamen Thanks for your input. I may try a tupperware box indirect infusion with some lemon balm, and possibly some ramson (wild garlic) leaves too. If I do it indirect, I may still be able to use the lemon balm for tea and the ramsons for pesto
@cpmcdill…ah,your actually spot on with the “urinal puck” reference! Lime Toast has been the only one ive enjoyed cuz i guess the scent is somewhat subdued, but always had an inkling there was something i couldnt quite place: thats my cat’s litter box! Its Fresh Step cat litter after my cat has a good pee…sorry for being so graphic. Indeed the bergamot is superior. The only thing with bergamot is i get sensory overload with it similar to Earl Grey tea, which i love, but if drink too many consecutive cups of it, i get burned out on the taste and an upset stomach.
The other citrus, that avoids the cat box, is St.Clements.That ones quite nice, albeit a lil sweet for my liking to take all day,a good refreshing after breakfast snuff.
Again, guys, sorry for the cat box references. I mean it only for illustrative purposes within the scope of this discussion.
Well, I have two cats and have smelled my share of urinal cakes. Just snuffed some Lime Toast. I got neither, just splendid lime goodness. YMMV
I’m just glad I don’t have a cat, so I can enjoy citrus snuffs without negative associations :))
