I’ve had some time with the Sam Gawith KB Special I got from FarleyFlavors and it is now a firm favorite. It’s time to place an order soon and I don’t know whether to go with SG or Wilson’s again. Both have pretty big minimums for foreign orders so I can’t order from both places right now. I want the big tins so I’m planning to order direct from the mill either way. Guys, tell me your favorite KB and KB style snuffs! Which ones should I get? Thanks!

Hey Farley, I think I also prefer the plainer ones. Have you tried the London Brown and their other moist snuffs? I’m going over ermtony’s staggering 186 reviews on snuffreviews.com now!
Yeah… I know… I’m a snuff slut! And I’ve been on the KB Special this morning. London Brown is one I really like too. Very moist and coarse and with a wonderful pure tobacco flavour.
Thanks, Tony. You and Trout and Snuff Head and Snuffster and Bob (didn’t mean to slight anyone else I forgot to mention) have really been a huge help in finding good ones. Do you reckon I should try to order from Sam this time or Wilsons?
I’d tend to agree with Farley and suggest the Sam Gawith ones. The F&T KB is the most perfumed KB that I’ve found and the Wilson’s is also fairly strongly perfumed. Both are a much finer grind than the Sam Gawith ones. I haven’t tried their scented KBs as I tend to prefer plainer snuffs too. I’m about half way down a half pound tub of KB Special at the moment. It goes at quite a rate!
yeah we all help each other find the good ones. Heck even the people who in my opinion have their nose on backwards have helped me know which snuffs I might not like as much as I thought I would.
While Kendal Brown is not the prerogative of a single firm, only Samuel Gawith uses ‘original’ in the name. This snuff uses the same recipe and grind as when Thomas Harrison first made it made for the 18th c English market in 1792. I agree with the above comments on perfuming by other makers and would also add that the coarser grind and darker colour lends to the distinctive character of KB Original. The original version of the famous blend is a better balance of tobacco and adulteration and is my favourite.

My first KB was from Gawith Hoggarth and I liked it. I’ve already made an appointment with my shrink for next week. I’m now into some F&T and although I also find the “perfume” a bit heavy, I prefer it to the GH. I must admit that this is only my second tin of KB, so next time round I will order another brand.
Alright so which are your favorite KBs? I’m making a list… Thanks again. (LOL lxskllr)
F&T Kendal Brown
Pieter is the F&T moist?
Well aside from all the dozens of KB recommendations, Sam G said I have to pay VAT and since I don’t live in the EU…it’s back to Wilsons for me. I hope their KBs are good as well…
Snuffbox, yes it is slightly moist and the flavour is more distinct than the GH. It’s a delightful snuff with a floral aroma, that is, to MY nose. I like it, already received a second tin, so it’s on my favourites list.
Thanks Pieter, it is on my list now! Have you tried Wilson’s KB to compare it with?
I’ve only had F&T KB, and GH Scented KB. They are both quite good, but I prefer the F&T. Someday I’ll have to try Wilson’s and SG’s versions of it too.
Snuffbox, I’ve ordered some WoS KB today, usually takes 2 to 3 weeks to reach me. Will let you know when I’ve tried it.
Thanks very much, Pieter. I’ll probably place an order in the first part of the week so perhaps we’ll compare notes later! Thanks for the info, Leman. Sam’s is outstanding, I understand it’s a benchmark.
