Okay recently started chewing some original Redman just on a whim. Found I kinda like it. What do you guys think is the best newbie chew? Redman, Levi, Beech??? Also… is Redman Goldenblend sweeter than original? Thanks.
I have always been partial to beechnut. I also wish I could find a plug of days work.
I belive the “Golden Blend” is higher in nicotine, don’t hold me to that. “Levi Garret” seems to be the sweetest i have tried.
Here in BC we only have redman original. Good stuff imo.
Redman is good stuff, indeed. I think Pot Poe is right about golden blend, and *think* it is sweeter, too. it has been a while. Levi Garret Extra is also good stuff. The only one I t like much was Redman plug. I think I don’t like plug much.
If you are looking for super sweet, I find that Lancaster (followed by Chattanooga Chew) is just about tops. Many people will not chew anything but Lancaster because of the flavor, so that gets my vote for “good to start with.” I personally won’t go sweeter than Mail Pouch these days and am looking for some Havanah Blossom (no sweetener at all). @zonesix - Days Work is very good! I’m lucky enough to have it available locally (fewer and fewer stores these days though).
Thanks guys… I’ve found that I have to take small amounts because if I take too big of a chaw I get the spins pretty bad. Must be WAY more nicotine than snuff eh?
That snuffpuff ties in to the point I was going to make. I don’t really think there is enough diffrence in chews to make one for beginers or not. It is more a question of trying a few and seeing what you like the best and just making sure the pinchs you take aren’t too much. Someone said their favorite is beech nut, personaly I think it tastes great but the flavor kicks out well before it does with other chews. My point in the last statement. Sometimes the vast diffrence between diffrent chews is very subtle and how are we gonna teach you which to try next. Just go crazy and try a few.
will do
Red Man Golden definitely has more nicotine–that’s the chaw business trying to compete with high-octane products like Copenhagen. Once you get tired of sweet, sweet chaw you should try Cotton Boll. Then Bruton in the mouth. I will then give you a certificate of graduation, together with a referral to a good mouth doctor.
LOL! Thanks Mike… I’ll probably need it!
Pickin up some redman on the way home… Beer, cigs, chew, snus and snuff…i think im pretty damn prepared for Irene lol
I was going to say big league, but i’ll be nice. I like redman plug. edm
The stokers big bags are great value and are nice stuff. Love the apple.
Give the plugs a try, I think they are just as sweet, but they are way better than loose leaf, imo. I like redman plug, cannonball plug and days o work plug. I can only find cannonball and days o work locally. Cannonball really tastes great.
I find the plugs are slightly more complex and richer then the loose leaf. Just as sweet but really more quality in my opinion. They also store better too without drying out.
I’m partial to Apple Jack and Stokers Apple. Apple isn’t my favorite flavor or anything but I really like it in a chew. Probably the best chew on the market today that you never really hear about is Stoker’s Butternut. If you want something that you can use everyday without rotting your teeth, try the Silver Blend Red Man. It’s the only chewing tobacco on the market that I’m aware of that doesn’t contain sugar. The Golden Blend Red Man tastes about the same as the regular, but it has about twice the nicotine. If regular Red Man is giving you the nicotine spills, stay away from the Golden Blend. Like Bob said, Plugs are more complex in flavor than loose leaf. I generally prefer plug to leaf. Black Mariah, Red Man Totems & Plug, Cotton Boll, Bull of the Woods, and Cannon Ball are all pretty good.
Red Man Totems They still make these?
I don’t know about regular totems, but I know for sure that they still make the Golden Blend Totems. I bought a pouch a few months back.
Those nicotine “spills” are a mess to clean up!
