I been headed down the block… Getting near the corner and I have learned from SH by now never ever buy 10g tap boxes anymore… But Bernard products we have no choice. I decant into small black cap glass bottle, holds 30g packed well. With most snuffs brands, I can peel the label easily and apply neatly to the glass bottle. Learned a little trick from @basement_shaman… To heat the tin cover a bit and the label will peel easier ( if you are having trouble ) But Bernard’s just don’t wanna come off easy. I even tried soaking one in tap water from faucet. ( after decanting snuff of course ) ANYONE KNOW HOW TO PEEL THE LABEL OFF A BERNARD TAP BOX without destroying it? …some of my Bernard labels now applied to bottles, look like a real massacre. ( yes, I could use Avery labels, but like original labels) Toque, WIlson, Molens, etc. look real cool on glass bottles. ( I guess Bernard Aecht Altbayerischer Schmalzer must be a top seller, cause it is imprinted on the tap box ) THANKS Below is a pic of Bernard Feinster Kownoer and its massacre label transferred to glass bottle ( see how neat and nice the Toque Peach label is below the massacre label ) ANY SUGGESTIONS WOULD BE APPRECIATED
CLEARER PICTURE
Labels are a pain in the butt. You’re right about a bit of heat…a hair dryer on highest setting works well, then with a razor blade, gently start getting in under the label at one corner. Slowly pull the label parallel to the box, using the razor blade to gently peel at the adhesive at the same time. Patience is a virtue because if you peel too fast, the adhesive will stay and the only the top layer will rip off. I’ll try to post a private video of how i I do it when i get home.
Good call on the hairdryer, that would have been my first suggestion too. Heat is the key, not water. I’ve never had any of those boxes, but if they hold water then filling with hot water might work too. Don’t just blast with heat via whichever method though, let the heat soften the adhesive which might take a little time. I had a stubborn sticker on an old car a few years ago, and the only way for me to get it off was wait for a really hot day and park it with the label in direct sunlight for a couple of hours. Peeled right off without leaving a mark
bernards hold well in a tap box.
i wouldnt bother re packing with a snuff thats oil moistened… my poschls have lasted a year in a tap box.
Apologies in advance for the mini hijack AANYCARDS (prompted by bob’s comment), but I had a GH tapbox in this morning which holds snuff as well as my young neice holds poop, puke and noise 8-| but I also received some Jaxons and Molens which do seem to be far superior containers. I’d be interested in feedback of how well the Jaxons and Molens snuffs keep in their boxes as unless anyone tells me otherwise, I’d be very happy to let them dwell in there.
Permanent adhesive labels are difficult, even with heat. Maybe learn calligraphy, that would look cool. On a side note, I wish I had transferred my Kowoner, this very day I went to have a barnyard sniff of it and it poured out in little hard beads and dust, it’s rehydrating now in a smashbox.
Off topic but @Mouse… Or anyone is Bernard Kowoner similar on anyway to GH sea breezes… I imaging it is from reviews
They are distinctly different. I get barnyard/tobacco scent from the Kownoer. Sea Breezes is a refreshing combination of herb (maybe thyme?) something cooling–probably just a touch of menthol but way in the background, and salty. It even tastes salty.
If you have a good printer and software to control size ,you could take a picture of the label then print it on self stick paper. some tins the label is painted on ,so there be no way to peel it off.
I have just received a number of 25g tins today, and have a dozen new 70ml clip top glass jars
@50ft_trad… Could you possibly post a picture of the clip top cap and glass jar to those 70mlglass jars you purchased? Just wanna actually see what others are using… Mine are glass but screw tops.

@basement_shaman… Just another one of many “KILLER” ideas from the shaman…HATS OFF to experience…now I gotta find ( buy ) the time to do that…Thanks
Best bet is to not worry about your Bernards snuffs in tapboxes. Oil moistened snuffs hold up pretty well in those (which is why they must be avoided for Gawith Hoggarth and Samuel Gawith). The one exception is the Feinster Köwoner which is water moistened and will dry out. Bernard sold these until recently in glass bottles which were excellent. I do try to save my labels for my snuff scrapbook and the Bernards ones are for sure a challenge to remove, so save yourself the work and only decant the Köwoner. The de Kralingse boxes are mediocre for snuff storage. They are superior to the other companies tap boxes but not airtight. Recently they are sold with tape around the seam, which helps tremendously. As to the side note, yes Sea Breezes is nothing like any of the German snuffs. Its an herbal scented snuff with the standard GH flour. I nickname it “Scarborough Fair” since I get sage, rosemary and thyme out of it, and maybe a bit of wintergreen, so maybe “Scarborough Christmas Fair” would be a better nickname.

@AAANYCAARDS I have to nip out today and meet a fellow snuffer from on here for swapsies but I’ll try to get a piccy up later for you
Lighter fluid will generally dissolve common adhesive. let label dry which is very quick and apply paste/tape of your choice. Do not heat and use lighter fluid at the same time unless you have an unlit cigar in your mouth you are trying to light or if your girlfriend’s cat is very close.
warm, gently peel, re apply
Nice job on that label @noworry @basement_shaman with his terrific insightfulness just gave me a modified splendid idea… Go to MRSNUFF and click on the picture of the snuff tapbox… Enlarge to right size and print and apply label behind tape on glass bottles… Problem solved, now girl won’t bitch at me for snuffing and stealing hair d
I just put the whole tap box in a jar.
@lunecat thanks for the feedback. I used to prefer boxes that let me take a pinch, as I didn’t like using the back of the hand but now feeling happy enough with the boxcar method. It’s nice to know I can leave them in their boxes and dip in when the mood suits, rather than feel they have a short expiry date on them
