With the talk of Bernard’s shutting down and stocks varying in availability/pricing - has anyone been able to find suitable alternatives?

Of particular interest to me, Zwiefacher

Probably not the answer you are looking for here, but for me, to be honest, there is only one alternative, which would be more Bernard. If/when they shut down, and the last of any remaining tap boxes I might have are gone, they’re gone for good. I enjoyed them and have memories, but that’s it.

It has happened to a lot of snuffs over the past few decades (and before). No worries. Life goes on.

It’s bitter-sweet for me - I lost my father last year and started using snuff in Feb; my father was a devoted pipe smoker and there’s something about Zwiefacher which takes me back long days with him.
From a senses point of view, it was a little like having him back, at least in spirit.

It’s business in the modern world. I’ve loved many of their snuffs, and I will miss them, but there are many others that fill the gap. Poschel, Rosinski come to mind.

SG Elmos Reserve, Celtic Talisman, and Firedance all fit that bill, as does SWS Latakia Blend. I was a serious devotee of the briar for many years, and each of those snuffs instantly brings me back to those days.

You can always make your own snuff! Use the pipe tobacco that reminds you of your dad! It’s so easy to do, you need to try it. There’s a whole section here(somewhere) on snuff making.

I know Rosinski would also close (assuming Bernard does), for pretty much identical reasons. I’m kind of wondering the same, but thinking about making my own if I don’t find alternatives for Kathnertabak, Nordwind, and Klippenritt. I don’t think Poschl makes anything like this, or anyone else really.
Anyone know about Pfalzer? I haven’t heard anything specific.

I’ve been enjoying some Pfalzer tins lately, all good stuff but not yet tried any which come close to Zwiefacher, Magic Moments or the others I can’t even think of their names (minty with a shop on the pack and maple with the monk).

I also saw on a Facebook thread that there’s strong rumours of Poschl closing some of its lines, although the more popular ones are said to be safe: Red Bull, President and such.

Crafting my own might be a good call - although the law seems to be changing here in the UK towards shipping tobacco/nicotine products being restricted between domestic customers (meaning only businesses may courier between businesses and their customers but not me sending my uncle a cigar and some snuff, unless I order from the business and have them deliver to him).
Selfishly, it’s such a shame - I only got in to snuff earlier this year and some of the greats seem to be going.
