Among other types, I ordered Aechte Altbayerischer, and Brasil Doppelt Fermentiert (both for the second time), and Alt Offenbacher Köstlich. Not the first two are very tasty, but the Alt Offenacher I get VERY little out of…kinda like eating plain pancakes with no butter, syrup, or any other condiment.  From the reviews I read, I had expected more although I realized different from the schmalzlers I am familiar with.

it’s a fact that everyones smell sensor hairs (non-science term for it) are composed as uniquily as people say finger prints are. Literal no one smells the same things. Some snuffs also have charactor I don’t smell untill one day and then it’s always there. Most likeily I’am guessing it’s fatigue. When you smell anything you temporarily become less sensitive to the smell (like how when you go to the ocean the ocean smell although incredible strong kind of disapears after an hour or so.) That’s my guess is that it’s similar enough to the other snuffs but not as pungent and maybe you should try it with a “clean” nose first thing in the morning and see if it doesn’t smell diffrent.

Alt Offenbacher Köstlich isn’t really a Schmalzler. It’s a (mostly) water moistened plain snuff which gets its flavouring from the various tobaccos used to make it. I love the stuff.
