So I’ve been looking at reviews on mrsnuff.com and I watched mrmichaelsnuff’s review on this awesome snuff and I have a question because I’m a little worried that my Zwiefacher has been contaminated or something.  The main culprit Menthol.  Is it supposed to have a hint of menthol or not?  I’ve seen reviews on mrsnuff.com saying that it has no menthol and I’ve seen reviews saying that it does…  any input would be greatly appreciated.

It has menthol or camphor or something like it in it.  Your box is fine.  There is just a hint of menthol in mine right at the beginning that fades into that glorious chocolate, bready note.

I’ve said it before, I like to try a lot of snuffs, but if I could never have anything more than a couple of my favorite Bernard schmalzlers, F&T Old Paris and Bourdeaux and a bit of Poschl Ozona Orange, I’d be pretty happy!  Okay, maybe a little Toque Lime or Natural Toast might be nice now and again.

It has menthol and is all the better for it!

I think Zwiefacher is a mixture of medicated snuff and schmalzer.

I guess I’ll just chalk those reviews on mrsnuff to someone just trying to get extra points for reviews.

Ok…I know this is a little off topic…but does anyone know where you can get Bernard Snuff in 100g bags like the pocshl snuffs at Mr. Snuff.

I would love to have a nice bag of Klostermischung but can’t find it anywhere (apart for 25g gift sets)

I looked around and couldn’t find 100g bags/satchets of any Bernard snuff, but there may be a site that I overlooked.

My guess is if there is any out there it is going to be in a German shop

Man I’m dying to get my Mr. Snuff order. I have never tried any Schmalzers or any Bernard snuffs. I can’t wait to try Zweifacher.

It’s the only Schmalzer I’ve tried so far, but I love the stuff.  I can’t quite place the scent it has but it is amazing.

@MrSnuff any idea on pricing for bulk Bernard?

O.K just Googled and found an old thread, the prices without shipping as of 2010 were:
100 grams - 25€
200 grams - 49€
500 grams - 110€

Not cheap then.

Zwiefacher and Alpina are very similar.

Tried this today and it is amazing! I’ve had a couple of Bernard’s schmalzers but this variation is ridiculously good. I’m glad they were willing to break the schmalzer code.

Just goes to show how diffrent noses are. To my nose that’s a silly statement. It would be like saying apples are very similar to mangoes. Though I’ve heard it enough times to make me say noses they’re all diffrent.

@xander I know I just thought halb schmalzer must have been revolutionary at one time. Maybe it only got purists ticked off.
