I normally hate menthols with a passion as they congest my nose something fierce but the ones by Bernard like Fichtenndel, Zwiefacher and Jubilaums do nothing but give me that cool menthol feeling without any congestion. Does anyone know what’s so special about the Bernard menthols that make this happen.

I don’t know, but zwiefacher was the second snuff i ever bought and i still love it.

Don’t know, and I agree, at least partially, with you. Why partially? Because the least “congestant” menthols for me are Hedges and McChrystals. The Bernard’s come closer, despite of Steife Prise getting my nose blocked if I take it in “just-out-of-the-box” state. I think it’s due to it being packed so tightly that it tends to clump, getting big stones of compact snuff in your nose and those causing that hideous effects. For me, the problem isn’t exactly on the menthol: some lightly mentholised English snuffs like Prime Minister have caused me the biggest congestion I have experienced since I started snuffing, and Pöschl menthols ALMOST ALWAYS end up causing me some unpleasant sensations in the nose. Despite I love some of their flavours (I can’t say the same about their flours, except for Gletcher’s one) I had to drop Pöschl snuffs from my regular rotation. Some say it’s because of their method of oiling the snuff, but I’d say it’s perhaps due to the grinding method or the base floor. I don’t know!
