I’ve ordered just about all the Poschl, Bernard and Sternecker schmalzlers. I have Bernard Virginie in my current cart, and I am debating Kardinal. Not too much info about it here, other than several really like it. Can anyone elaborate on Kardinal to help me make up my mind whether or not to order it? Thanks
It’s golden brown and medium coarse. Not as oily as other Bernard so it feels a bit dryier in the nose. It has a nice outdoor and woody scent (a friend of mine refers to it as the “cedar” snuff) but not particularly strong or long lasting. Nicotine level seems pretty good compared to a Schmaltzer.
A good value for the price.
I just broke some of this out today. Very nice, something sweet upfront. Extremely good value. The cardboard box is a hoot.
as good as their Virginie for any who have tried both?
Certainly as good. They are different in color, texture and scent, but both are good, yes.
I like the both with a preference for the Kardinal, to me it has a slightly sweet chocolate overtone.
For more info try searching for it spelled “Cardinal” That K spelling is a mistake that gets perpetuated
Offenbacher Kardinal is as a lightly milder version of Alt Offenbacher Koltich of Bernard’s too,
for me they’re a good evokation of a wood fire, very pleasant.
