Coarse, dark brown, medium moist, easy to take. Tin note, or should I say box note, is something dark and sweet. In the nose, I get a bitter cocoa scent along with sweetish liquor notes. After the liquor smell fades away, the cocoa scent starts smelling like coffee. This new scent lasts in the nose for a decent amount of time. Great snuff, but it clumps together in the box, so you have to manually crush it before snuffing it. The throat drip is rather unpleasant as well, so try blowing your nose when it starts to feel the snuff will start dripping. Medium nicotine content.
Not seeing this mentioned much in the Whats in Your Nose thread. Curious if anyone else has cozied up to it. To me, this schmalzler conveys a unique flavor hybrid of chocolate, coffee, and licorice. The flavor is intense and for lack of a better word, nostalgic and old world. The nicotine content seems moderate in the nose, but the backdrip gives me an intense buzz sometimes- similar to a dip buzz. The only drawback I can find is that it can be clogging.

First Schmalzler I tried was Poschl D and it was love at first snuff. The Snuffstore hasn’t had it in the 25g pouches for a while so I tried some Bernards. I just finished a tapbox of the Original Schmalzlerfranzl but couldn’t get into the tamarind flavor. Now I’m on to the aecht altbayerischer Schmalzler and am enjoying that more. From the sounds of it this is the one I should try.
