I’m curious what the denizens here like to take before bed. I find that one of the nice things bout snuff vs. other forms of tobacco as that I can take some right as I drift off to sleep without having to worry about brushing my teeth (or a fire!). I’m about to finally bite the bullet and order some Dreamcatcher from @chefdaniel , but in the meantime I am curious what snuffs you like to take right before bed. For me, the ultimate was (I’m out!) Toque’s Camphor & Clove. The clove scent stayed with me until I gave in to the sandman and I found the numbing sensation so relaxing. I’m planning on taking a big pinch in a moment before I call it a night and I’m vacillating between Toque Whiskey & Honey and McChrystal’s O&G. What carries you off the best?
6P Kailash or 5P Himalaya
Something heavy and dark, usually viking dark/thor’s hammer or SG kendal brown/black rapee/london brown.
Lately its been WoS Country Mint. But Radford is a very nice bedtime snuff.
Haven’t tried much just yet but so far Toque Lavender was always nice and relaxing before bedtime. Camphor n Clove is on my next order so I’ll definitely give that a shot.
All of them funneled into my nose!
SG Lavender Dark
That’s about the only time of day that I use floral snuffs. Currently it’s Himtaj Golden, GH Sandalwood, and SG Grousemoor. Toque Lavender and F&T Princes Special are others I’ve had on my night table. I also have a small tap box of Dholakia Herbal snuff which is nice for the menthol.
Dreamcatcher
6P Special. OM Dreamcatcher.
DK Mettaijer. There´s valerian root extract in it and it usually feels nicely before going to bed I-)
In the summer it’s 6 Photo Kailash or Special, as that keeps my breathing clear and open (WoS Jockey Club can have the same effect for some reason), other toimes of the year often those, but sometimes something heavier - SG Vanilla is a lovely, warm, comforting scent for bedtime.
OM Dreamcatcher
Dreamcatcher was engineered from the beginning to be a bedtime/nightcap snuff. It’s loaded with soporific herbs and root extracts that are considered by experts as relaxing, sleep inducing compounds. I cant’ speak for others, but it sure works for me.
McChrystal’s Violet, Clove, Toque Whisky & Honey, 5 Photo Himalaya.

Is it sleepy or, relaxed? Could it possibly help during stress? I would not hold you too your answer of course since every body is different.
I always take a box of Hedges to bed with me ready for the crack of dawn nostrilful. If I do have a pinch directly prior to sleep I tend to dream on a Coleridgean level.
@Igglet It’s a bit of both for me…relaxation at first, then drowsy. It does make for some interesting dreams…like an ongoing episode of “Kitchen Nightmares”.
My homeground Pennyroyal/Eucalyptus before the big nap… :bz
Dream Herbs; Wormwood,Mugwort, Calea zacatechichi, Celastrus Seed, Lemongrass, Piri Piri, Entada rheedii, Imphepho, Sugandi Root, Hops, Galangal Root, Wild Lettuce, Chamomile, Holy Basil Seed, Passion Flower,Patchouli Leaves, African Dream Root,Uvuma-omhlope, Mexican Tarragon, Damiana, Valerian Root, Vervain, Ashwagandha. Not necessary to snuff, various methods from teas to sackets to obtain lucid dreams. But that is a whole other subject.
That is a big grocery list Shaman. Do them all at once?
I usually like menthols right before bed, or a little HDT.
@Igglet No - you probably won’t want to wake up. Lucid dreams are awesome although you have little control over venue . You spend a third of your life in bed, might as well enjoy it. Use at your own risk
I used to use O&G close to bed but now Camphor and Clove. But not right before bed. I don’t see how all of you don’t get the drip snuffing right before bed. I have to neti pot every morning, so I dont know how people can have a pinch and lie down soon after.
The longer I snuff the less drip I get. I also sleep on my back so the drip wouldn’t matter @DPadraig.
I use schmalzlers every night, and in very large piles, pretty much anything not menthol. @basement_shaman I used to be able to successfully induce and enter lucid dreams after reading Stephen Laberges book, I even still have a novadreamer from 10 years ago. But had more luck with a dream journal and practicing dream checks regularly. I also have studied and grown many ethnobotanicals, glad to see someone mentioning these.
I’ve become a little wary of snuff usage before bed of late. A few heavy late night snuff sessions have left me with a hangover - I literally felt like I’d had a heavy night on the booze the night before, when if fact I hadn’t touched a drop. Evenings have usually been my heaviest snuffing time of way anyway, but having quit the smokes and leaning on the snuff a little more heavily has increased this. It’s also got me thinking more about secondary absorbtion of nicotine through the snuff we swallow from the back drip, and from our noses cleaning themselves that way. If you think about it, we take a pinch and absorb a certain percentage of Vit N through the nose, then swallow it and absorb everything else later through our digestion systems. I noticed this hangover effect with the smokes several times, whereby on a night out with friends I’d have a far worse hangover the next day if I’d been smoking heavy than if we’d been somewhere I couldn’t smoke freely. However, to have a hangover without having the drunken frivolity beforehand seems grossly unfair to me I don’t think there’s any problem with a pinch before bed and letting the scents aid pleasant dreams. However, wolfing back a couple of grams in the couple of hours just before getting my head down as I have done on a few occasions lately … not so good.
Schmalzlers are my usual bedtime choice, though 6P Kailash, Super Kailash, and now Toque Rustica are selected just as often.
That nice Dr. Verey. He has a lovely bedside manner.
Mine currently are Toque Apricot or Old Mill Kind of Blue. Both have lovely scents that are strong enough that they last until morning.
@50ft_trad I feel you! I’ve woken up with a wicked headache after snuffing a lot before bed. I’ve been trying to dial back the nighttime snuffing lately.
I enjoy Super Kailash before bed, maybe some Packard’s Club.
Mountains of rustica. Honestly, there’s nuthin’ finer.
My Dreamcatcher is on the reserved list- so usually it’s White Elephant before bed and when waking up. Sometimes I do like some Rustica blended tobacco before bed such as Lundy Foot
Bedtime rotation changes a bit every six months or so, but right now it’s Dholakia Medicated No10, Toque Absinthe (since running out of Toque Coltsfoot), and 6p Kailash (been in the rotation for over a year).
When I make a point to take a bedtime snuff, it’s usually 6 Photo Kailash, Motia, or F&T French Carotte.
A bedtime snuff for me has to have no nasty backdrip. My usual snuffs for bedtime/in bed are high toasts or Indian whites. Yellow Lilly Perfumed is a lovely bedtime snuff- instead of lying in my hovel of a rented bedroom I’m walking through an Indian garden, flanked by beautiful women wearing garlands of flowers…sweet dreams…
It’s bedtime for me now and I’m enjoying some wonderful tuberose snuff, nighty night snuffhouse.
I liked a schmalzler before bed for a while there, but lately it’s been Toque Rustica. Tonight, for whatever reason, I’m using Kensington. Maybe my nose is bored with routine.
I think my new bedtime favorite is F&T Morlaix.
I usually hit White Elephant but sometimes Dreamcatcher. Can’t do that too often as I don’t have tons left unfortunately. Maybe try pure Rustica when I get around to getting some
I big pris of Los . dream land never seemed so real.
OM Kind of blue has been my go to bedtime snuff. It is just well executed and a good nightcap snuff. I couldn’t do it all day, but it is a darn good night time snuff.
I take a big pinch of USA W&H in each nostril before bed. Usually gets me through the night. I keep a few tins by my bed just in case.
A mix of Toque Rustica and 41P Yellow Lilly Perfumed has been my go to bedtime snuff for a little while now. Really good stuff.
