How many have beard or mustaches and use snuff? How do you keep from getting it in your beard/mustache or if taking it off the back of your hand (my preferred method) how do you keep from sweeping it away? I like having a beard but I find that I either get it in the hair right under my nose or sweep some of it away when taking off the back of my hand. Your thoughts?
I find that position on the hand, at least for me, has a factor as to how much gets stuck in my mustache. Almost every time i snuff i get a little bit in my mustache however its never very much and it just brushes right out. The first time i did this however, i didn’t realize it was in my mustache and i looked up from my snuff and my friends just started laughing.
I use the thumbnail method and it’s not an issue.
I have lots of facial hair. I don’t have a problem snuffing (usually with a spoon), but blowing my nose often requires cleanup as my hair is blond/gray.
This is the technique:
I see…the sneeze blows it out of the 'stache.
Good call!
Works for me!
Isn’t that one the first motion picture ever produced?
I have. The moustache is one reason why I prefer the boxcar method of using the thumbnail instead of the back of the hand. You can use the thumb to press down the moustache and place the snuff directly under your nostril in one felled swoop.
Wrapping the index finger around the end of the thumb, you make a little cavity on top of the thumbnail that is enclosed between the top and middle knuckle of the forefinger. Use the side of your thumb closest to your face to depress/cover your moustache, and sniff!
It makes a great wind screen too!
@howdydave Thank you for explaining that. I would assume one would have to use a spoon or the like to deposit the snuff onto the thumb, or is there another way?
@Bloodnativ - I either use a tap box or a wooden slide top snuffbox opened just a bit (a small slot of half an inch or so) and tap on the snuffbox. When using a wood snuffbox, the opening is held vertically above the thumbnail.
LOL!!
I usually just do the back of the hand method. I’m rather hairy as you can see, but by scrunching up my facial features I can sniff up the remnants! (Apologies to any ladies who may have fainted!)
I have a mustache, but I have been using the stuffing method, so for me, it is not really an issue.
I killed my stache yesterday. And it felt good.
lol @Sloth ! I do the same thing. I stick my upper lip out and sniff real hard to get the excess. hahahaha
As I said in a previous thread, there’s nothing more manly than a finely waxed moustache with a light dusting of snuff. It drives the ladies wild.
@Joesnuffer " …sniff real hard to get the excess."
@Sloth " …ladies who may have fainted."
@TallJim " …It drives the ladies wild."
LOL!!
=))
My beard went yesterday. As usual I am growing it straight back:)
Also it sometimes makes a bit of a Hitler 'stache, bummer…
You can also be a lot messier with a 'tashe.
@Micheltn Very true-always be suspicious of the motives of a man who does not or cannot grow a beard.
Shaving is one step towards transvestitism.
Great, now I feel like a woman. I have to shave everyday for the most part because my wife complains about how “prickly” my face is when I get the least bit of stubble. Though if I just deal with her complaining for a bit, when I grow out my goatee she shuts up about it…though alas, I will never have a Salvador Dali mustache…
Geez, what boat am I in then? I tend to shave every month or every couple of weeks or so.
*regards Harlequin with suspicion*
I found out that, for me, a mustache is great for snus (hides the bulge), but not for snuff. For the lesser of the two evils, I shave on a regular basis
Harlequin really mean trust the opinion of woman more then men when it comes to such things.
You are trying to get me killed aren’t you? lol
Yeah…send her to where the knives are…
