BBC Cumbria feature on Sam Gawith from 2004.

M

Dont think this has been posted before, but it may have been. Nice little 12 min feature on Sam Gawith from BBC cumbria. Real Player needed. http://www.bbc.co.uk/cumbria/features/2003/11/snuff/index.shtml

Very interesting. What sort of accent is the one the woman at the end has? Is that Cumbrian?

M

I am not sure Xander. Sometime this year I plan on taking a trip up that way, so I’ll let you know!

X

The snuff miller interviewed has an accent as well, but its not the same or as pronounced. He does say snoof instead of snuff.

W

Cumbrian accent, definately. A bit like Lancashire crossed with low land Scottish. If not Cumbrian then definately northern lol. Stefan

Bloody double posts! Stefan

Beastly Ubuntu…Linux based OS’s are so nice in some ways, but just about completely incompatible with all the popular media applications!! Unable to watch it…grrr!

R

Ubuntu rocks!!!

M

You need Realplayer FischTix. They do a linx version here http://uk.real.com/realplayer/other-versions

D

I don’t think there’s a Linux port for Real Player, is there? Kubuntu rules too!

S

You can use VLC to play the stream; or at least I can, not sure what codecs I’ve got installed though.

X

I thought it was just a radio show. Was there a video track I missed?

M

It’s just audio.

F

@Mopey thanx…but it’s not ubuntu itself that i hate, it’s the badly outdated version (Jaunty 8.04) In order to be up to date i’d need to install each of the updated versions from 8.04 to i believe 10.1. 5 versions one at a time! Not to mention without any drives i’d have to create a USB port executable drive, which in itself is a huge pain! On this cheapo netbook it’s not worth the trouble…i’ll have a decent laptop again within a week or so. I do appreciate you going to the trouble though!

gun powder mil then snuff mill. that could make for dangerous sneezes.
