Today I received a magnificient snuffspoon which I ordered from MrSnuff last week. It is just PERFECT in size, design and colour (stainless steel) and it feels great in the hand and delivers snuff in amounts that will satisfy even the most eager consumers of powdered tobacco! I’m supercontent with this spoon and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a real man’s snuffspoon and it’s well worth its humble price. I ordered it because all rewievs gave it 5 stars and I have to agree with those who have bought it. Top quality product! https://mrsnuff.com/images/mrsnuff\\_long\\_spoon\\_big.jpg Nuuska

I attache some photos so You can see and compare the spoon with Dholakia 10g tins and my rather big hand.

N

@Nuuska nice spoon but big and heavy…

N

@Nikolaos, that’s the point - I’ve got rather big hands and a steady spoon like this is perfect to handle and the generous bowl matches the size of the pinches I’m used to take just splendlidly…

M

I almost ordered this exact one but decided to spend the money on more snuff because I already have a czech pipe tool that I bought specifically to use as a snuff spoon. Will get one eventually from MrSnuff in the future, maybe this one or maybe the other silver colored one that resembles a medieval sword imo. You know the one, it comes in 18k gold plated also.

I

I have trouble wanting to order a snuff spoon. My pipe tool doesn’t have sharp edges when folded up but, the snuff spoon does not fold so it is always pokey. Also I am horrible and, use the same pipe tool I use on my pipe in my snuff. I wipe it off!

N

@md363 and @Igglet - yes, many use pipetools as their snuffspoon it seems. I had a very nice earspoon earlier which I used for snuff but I lost it when I moved to my new home. But this new spoon is a great replacement! I never carry a spoon when I’m on the move but a foldable one would be nice to own @Igglet.

J

I left mine in a coffee shop about a month ago and miss it horribly. I’m using a pipe tool, but it just doesn’t sit in my hand the same way. The weight is perfect. I’ve got a replacement coming in my next order. This time I’m going forthe titanium version, the steel is liable to bend if yyou sit on it.

N

@JakartaBoy, it would be great if You put in photos of the Titanium spoon in this thread when You get it. Maybe alongside with a known 10 g tin or the palm of Your hand so we can compare the size of it. Titanium sounds like serious business!

J

@Nuuska‌, pretty much identical in size and shape to tthe steel, just a slightly different pattern on the handle. Only a few bucks more. I’m sure it doesn’t make a hell of a lot of difference, I just always like to try something new when I replace something I lose. Makes me feel like its some kind of upgrade, not just back to square one.

N

@JakartaBoy‌ - I wish You happy snuffin’ with Your titanium spoon!

I

Does it feel much lighter than other spoons?

C

I have both spoons. The “business end” of the titanium version is smaller and shallower than the stainless steel spoon. Both are wonderful tools. The titanium one reminds me of a well turned dart shaft. Neither is designed to be portable, more of a desk-top utensil. The sword looking spoon is much better for travel, IMHO.

J

@chefdaniel‌, different size, hey? I’m still waiting for the new titanium spoon, I commented just on the basis of the pictures. But I liked the size of the steel spoon to carry in my pocket, big enough to not get lost in the corners.

I

So pipe tool it is. I am too on the go to not have a portable spoon always. Maybe some time at my desk.

C

Here’s a few photos. Hope they help. I’m considering getting another stainless steel spoon and having it cut down to pocket size.

N

I was thinking of getting the titanium spoon but after seeing that picture I think not, far too small for my liking. I have take two or three spoon fulls of stainless one in each nostril, no way I’m wasting my time taking a dozen spoons each sitting

B

my new spoon. It’s nice that if I lose it not too pricy

N

@chefdaniel‌, good idea to cut down the stainless steel spoon and what about maybe drilling a hole at the end of the handle so You can attache it to a key ring? So You wont lose it too easily?

N

@n9inchnails‌, ha ha! You must have one hell of a snuffsnout to take such amounts of nosecandy in each nostril! I’m truly impressed even if when it comes to Viking Brown I also can suck up mountains of it from the back of my hand and that stuff makes my nose pulsate! =))

J

@chefdaniel: hmm, the titanium spoon does look a little small. Although I can’t agree with @n9inchnails that the steel spoon is too small, it contains far more than I could pinch when it’s heaped.

C

I purchased the titanium spoon, but it was a long time ago and it was sold as a titanium oil dabber on amazon… However, it didn’t work well for that. So now I use it for test snuffing because it is pretty small. I wonder what else its sold as. I think its a nail tool originally. It may not be the place but here’s my small collection of spoons. With the titanium for comparison.

N

@JakartaBoy when heaped yes but I don’t heap it, when I do I always get spillage when I’m bringing it up to the nostril so I always tap it against the snuffbox to shake off any snuff that might spill. It’s safer to take two spoons then to try and take it all in one massive heaping spoon. And I wasn’t complaining about the size of the stainless ones I think they’re the perfect size, I may take two or three spoons per nostril but I also take two pinches per nostril so they’re about on par with a pinch

C

@Nuuska‌ good idea to drill a hole. Still trying to find someone I trust to saw it down without screwing it up.

Even Though MrSnuff sells the titanium spoon as a snuff spoon, and I use it as a snuff spoon, along with the stainless steel one. If one does a web search I think one will find that the titanium spoon is an ear spoon or ear pick.

F

I own both spoons and like them both. They are useful for different tasks. However, another spoon I recommend is this stainless steel inexpensive spoon from Amazon. It is a bit larger than those mentioned in this thread. http://www.amazon.com/RSVP-Endurance-Stainless-Steel-Condiment/dp/B000RYNMKO/ref=sr\\_1\\_1?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1399793857&sr=1-1&keywords=salt+spoon

J

@fredhanna‌, I got one of those. Bit big though, don’t you think?

D

@fredhanna That spoon would be ideal for decanting my daily snuff from tin to snuffbox… Ideal size for that task

F

Hi @Jakartaboy… Yeah, it is a bit large for snuffing but still good for some snuffs that I take more of in a single “gulp” than others–mostly those that are low nic. But you are right, lol, I have never taken a heaping helping with a spoon this size. But because it is bigger does not mean it has to filled to capacity each time. Now, having said that, I mostly prefer to pinch anyway although I occasionally use spoons. How about you? By the way, I have not been to Jakarta in 30 years but I must say that when I was there I really enjoyed hanging out in Jogjakarta and Borobudur, touristy as they were back then.

Just as you said, @Derek_007, I use it mostly for blending and transferring snuff to snuffboxes but it is also quite good for taking snuffs that I require a greater quantity of than others. It is an ideal length for me as well.

J

@fredhanna‌, I almost always use a spoon. I find I can catch the scent of a snuff much better from a spoon than from pinching, and generally get better control. It’s got to the stage where if I can’t find my spoon, I don’t know what to do. Jogja is a great town, still my favorite town outside Jakarta. The cities are changing fast, though, much more middle class than they were when you were here, and growing rapidly through urbanization. But Jogja still has a lot of the old charm.
