AVERAGE AGE OF FORUM MEMBERS

P

I took it for granted that Tim and Julia, and Roderick, must be oldish people because they are involved with snuff!!! When I was a kid, only “Ou Ooms” (old guys) used snuff. I only started snuffing after the age of 60, so I fit in with the picture in my mind. Recently I’ve seen some photo’s of the Forum members who are YOUNGSTERS. Nightcap could have been my son!! So, I’ve been wondering what the AVERAGE age of our Forum members is. I’m 64 and were born on 25th of July 1944…missed out on the Second World War by a couple of months!!!

S

Like the song says, I’m old enough to know better, and too damn young to care!

J

44 here.

L

I’m 29

M

I am also very curious about our “demographic” I am 46.

N

Thanks Dad! 1978 was a good year! I’m 30.

P

Well, so far it’s been an eye opener for me!!! You are all so young. I hope ALL THE MEMBERS will take part here.

M

I think it’s going to get much younger as it become more socially acceptable and cigarettes become less. I truly believe we snuffers are ahead of our time.

E

I’m 52 and my dad, who only took up snuff a couple of weeks ago is 82. He’s had a look in here I think but hasn’t signed up yet. My wife, who uses snuff occasionally is 53 and our younger daughter, who also takes snuff occasionally is 23.

D

Celebrated 30 years this year.

M

59 here.

D

48 here. I m also member of a german smokeless forum where most people are much younger. Looks like a mature forum here

R

18 here…

B

25

W

25/06/1985 here makes me 23. Stefan

S

I’m 49.

M

29 in a couple weeks

O

38 I think we need someone to put all this data in a graph.

M

I would like to know how long people have been snuffing and how many are ex smokers. To me it’s interesting, don’t really know why…

S

55 and still alive

K

I’m 25. The average is 37 so far.

P

I’ll bump the forum members average age up a bit…I’m 57 and never grew up

S

41 here.

J

42 for me.

R

Tell me if you can fill this out and i’ll make a average and post it here so you all can see it. http://spreadsheets0.google.com/ccc?key=pVOoKJjhV9wNcg1X123ocTg&hl=en

B

30 and a half. Smoked most of my adult life starting at 16 (snuffing then too as well as chewing.). It’s been about four or five years with out cigerattes. I want to bring back the fractional age!!! That most people get out of after about the age of nine.

T

30 & 10/12ths & this is my 16th. year of snuff use.

T

27 here.

S

42 here. Been snuffing for 2 months, ex-smoker since June and smoked since I was 15. I quit using Swedish Snus.

S

May 8th, 1989…so I’m 19. I have been snuffing for little over 4 months or so, and have been smoking for about 2 years. Roam and I seem to be the youngest on here. Anyone joining us in the “under 20” group? =] ~Snuffy

L

May 22 1986 makes me 22. Smoked for about 8 years, and still do on occasion. I’ve been snuffing pretty regularly for about 3 years.

R

53 here. Blink, 10 years… Blink again, 10 more years… and so it goes…

S

Snuffy said: “May 8th, 1989…so I’m 19. I have been snuffing for little over 4 months or so, and have been smoking for about 2 years. Roam and I seem to be the youngest on here. Anyone joining us in the “under 20” group?” I am Snuffy…in spirit!! :>)

B

RobME yes it seems to get faster every year too. Damn I remember when I was a child a few months felt like an eternity now a year pops off and is gone like nothing. Though its awesome being older then my tweenties rocks.

R

bob… time DOES pass by faster as we get older, but like most things, it’s in the mind of the beholder. Stay young at heart.

S

@ bob and RobME: I think that starts at 41. 2 years ago, a year didn’t seem to go as fast. This year though, for me, went by way faster than last.

S

43 here. Never smoked anything but the occasional pipe and cigar but “dipped” for about the last 14 years. Only been snuffing for about 3 months or so but would have started much sooner had I only known what I was missing. My girlfriend and I may actually be the only persons in my entire city who use snuff. It is virtually unheard of here except for the stories of how grandpa used to snort some funny looking dust from a can or bottle back in the old days. Any other snuffers near Mesquite, Texas or the DFW metroplex?

A

44, soooooooo old!!! Now where are we all mailing from? East London for me

J

45

S
  1. Been snuffing for 30+ years, ex-smoker
L

I’m 26

S

I’m 67 and been snuffing almost half of my life, for years only Hedges L260 and J&H Wilsons.

D

32 ! Feel 18 which is a good thing !

L

You’re only as old as the woman you feel ;o)

P

Oh dam Lazarus…now why did you have to say that? My wifes 5 years older than me. And I feel old enough. I thought the saying was “You are only as old as you smell”. good thread

O

I’m 20

B

32 here.

P

WOW…there we have it. All still so young, I envy you. Did anyone find the average age yet?? This is amazing to me, never, ever thought we had such young snuffers here. It is such a good sign. Myself, I only use snuff openly in front of my wife and kids, don’t know why I should be ashamed of snuffing. My own daughter thinks it’s “weird” to put tobacco up one’s nose. She smokes cigarettes and cigars, 30 years old, married with two children. Now I would like to convert her to a snuffer. I’m not good at spreadsheets other than those I sleep on. Who will be willing to sort the above data for us so that we will have a nice picture of what the average member of our Forum looks like? Something like: Male, 64, smoked for 46 years, been snuffing now for 20 months, prefer SP snuffs Cheers Pieter

S

Right on Ixs! To hell with foolish people and their judgements. If they don’t approve of my legal and god given rights to snort powdered tobacco up my nose then they can smeg off. Anyone have any Ayahuasca for trade?

R

@Spyro… no Ayahuasca, just a little Salvia divinorum…

S

Love the Salvia, its so expensive tho. Ever try DXM?

S

Ah mann, I’ve gotten messed up several times on DXM. That’s some weird shit. Nice legal high for $7, though. Lasted around 16 hours. HA. ~Snuffy

S

Yeah, not for the faint of heart. I’ve seen experienced LSD users break down on that stuff. Best used on rare occassions in a dark and quiet room when you want a ‘spiritual’ experience. Not a toy drug for recreational use. I’ve actually left my body behind and conversed with the the cosmic entity that runs the show on that stuff. It does have the nice effect of retuning the brain chemistry though.

S

The first time I tried it with my woman, our stomachs were upset for alittle while (as you know, it takes a good hour or two to kick in) so we just started lining up some coke. By the time I got up to use the bathroom, I couldn’t barely walk. Ha. When I ended up lying down for some sleep (some good hours later), I don’t even know if I ended up sleeping, as everything was dreamlike. It’s a dissasociative, again, as you probably know, but for anyone that doesn’t, that pretty much means that your brain is a couple of seconds behind your mind. So…basically, you can see your hand/arm/whatever moving, and you know it’s moving, but you can’t tell that you are actually moving it or that it even belongs to you. Well, anyways, taking that into account, when I laid down (start trip sequence) my body parts and skin tissues decided to free themselves from me (as I didn’t feel as though they were my own in the first place) and sell themselves at auction. Midway through their departure a large spaceship hovered over my bed. Pig men with fake looking darth vader costumes came down and were just…chilling. The rest is kind of a blur. So yea…that’s some mad crazy shit. Did it again several times after that, but I’m pretty sworn off it at the moment, as the last time I used it was on July 4th and I didn’t know what to make of the sound and sight of the fireworks going on nearby. That was some scary shit. =\\ ~Snuffy

R

@Spyro… No, though they might be interesting, I’ve never tried DXM (don’t even know what it is)… never tried Ayahuasca, and ditto on that. I stumbled upon mention of Salvia on a meditation forum and decided to do some homework on it as it sounded interesting. Found my way to the Entheogen Forums and spent some time reading. Also went to Sage Wisdom to learn a little more. Ended up buying some leaf and also some extract. I was never interested in partying with this stuff, I just approached it as a private spiritual experience. For that, I think Salvia, as a very occasional thing has great merit - but only when the set & setting are just right. How these kids on YouTube (and elsewhere) abuse it, don’t understand it, and create a bad name for it in the process, spoiling it for everyone else - is beyond me. As a legal substance, it’s certainly doomed. What a shame. Fwiw, I’ve absolutely no intention of experimenting with any other mood or mind or psyche altering substances in the future. I’ve been able to have some more than interesting experiences via meditation alone and at least, I’m in control. -later

S

Rob, Bottom line is don’t screw with this tuff unless you know what you are doing or fancy yourself as a shaman. http://www.erowid.org/chemicals/dxm/faq/ Its dangerous and not something to be toyed with.

S

Spyro, you are seriously the mann for suggesting erowid. That is the most informative and non-biased website I have found for just about any mood altering substance, legal or otherwise. Seriously, major points. ~Snuffy

J

Read before you do anything. This is a link to a place locally that sells the fixings. http://www.seekershop.com/ no brick and mortar but overnight to your local spyro. Sorry little havana was not more helpful. The owner told me it was wilsons and I thought they had more than that. I am going to try to get them to stock toque.

S

Jar, the shop was friendly and all, I even spilled the 3 gram container in my pocket just after leaving the store and the guy refilled it for me. (adds a nice earthy tone to a black leather motorcycle jacket btw) It is frustrating living in such a large metroplex and being unable to find nasal snuff aside from the occasional can of Garret. Why must I be relegated to such a cultural quagmire here in Texas? I even tried talking a local Indian tobacco store owner into stocking some snuff but he insists that he can’t find any yet has a large variety of dope pipes and rolling papers. WTF?

R

Spyro… I appreciate the heads-up although I don’t know what in my post could’ve suggested that I’d be interested. Truth is, I’ve spent a little time on Erowid in the past when seeking salvia info, and that in itself was just a small detour for me.

S

Sorry Rob, wasn’t aimed directly at you. Just warning some folks about DXM and other heavy duty hallucinogens. Tread carefully when trespassing in the garden of the gods. Some of this stuff will give you more than you bargained for. I grow Datura Inoxia in my garden but thats definitely a sure path to destruction for the uninitiated. Nothing beats good old meditation, especially with the Ajna chakra if that is what one is seeking. There’s always a price to be paid.

A

Yep, DXM can wreck minds - for any interested but inexperienced folks - a very common part of the experience on the higher ‘plateaus’ is contact with ‘other’ life forms; not always pleasant and sometimes very mentally destructive. Much better to take snuff, drink wine, listen to good music and as Spyro says; meditate.

R

“Nothing beats good old meditation, especially with the Ajna chakra if that is what one is seeking. There’s always a price to be paid.” OK, I’ll bite. What’s the price for that one? Or do you mean, there’s always a price to be paid… excepting that one? You see, I’m not willing to pay the price for the others, but for that one… I’d kind of like to know what you meant… For ‘traditional’ meditation I always felt… big upside small downside. There could be a dangerous price to be paid for unguided kundalini practice, but I don’t ‘swim’ in waters that are too deep for me.

A

Then you can’t go wrong

S

Other life forms, meditation, chakras, Salvia, Ajna, Datura, interesting little detour on this thread for sure! I think I’ll leave the cough syrup alone, but the Datura might make for an interesting snuff, eh?

S

Datura? That shit is scary as fuck. Read about it on erowid. Your body can’t sweat and your eyes are blurred for long periods of time. Some people have drowned themselves thinking they were doing something else. I hear a few good experiences, but other than that it just sounds mad crazy. Personally, I don’t have the proper setting to try such a thing. In the future, who knows. But definitely read all you can and whatever you do don’t smoke alot of it. They say a stamp sized bit is enough. Does anyone here have any experience with it? I’m only citing what I’ve read in un-biased articles. I imagine it could be cool if the situation was right and it was SAFE. You’d definitely at least need a trip-sitter for such a time. =] ~Snuffy

S

Rob, Yeah I didn’t mean that meditation had a price, was talking about the chemicals and such. DON’T try Datura. Its a deleriant, not an hallucinogen. Its not fun, you won’t remember most of it, and you’ll likely end up in the emergency room or morgue. It works via the toxic agents of scopolamine, atropine, and hyoscyamine.

R

Yeah I figured as much. I just meditate. Salvia sits and waits for me. I’ve a bit left but I’m in no hurry to consume it. Nothing else but the occasional drink… snuff… & snus.

K

41

N

Wow! A lot has changed since I was taking “shrooms” and listening to Mudhoney! Circa ‘91-’'93 -ish. I can’t take these mind altering drugs anymore. I just stick with strong drink, snuff, and the odd evening with my hash pipe. But hey, If it works for you, have at it! Just don’t burn too many brain cells, you’ll need them later! P.S… THREAD HIGH JACK!

T

I’m 23. I’ve been snuffing for “5” years now. And, if location is a part, I live in Alaska and started while I was in Michigan.

A

Strong drink is the drug of choice for the mature. Post adolescence and young adulthood, I’ve never been interested in trying anything else.

A

And I thought Avergae was a place in France.

S

Well, I just sort of punched a hole in it with a pocket knife. Not too much plastic fell in, at least I hope. I sure love this stuff. Its moist and clumpy tho and hard to get it into the nose and keep it there. Found its best in small pinches from the hand thumb crease method for me. Should I let it dry a bit or something or just keep sucking it up as hard as I can? I have some more schamlzlers from Bernard but haven’t popped em open yet. I don’t like to have too many tins open at once, sort of OCD about that I guess.

J

Hay I’m OCD about opening them all. I have found that if you put some in your thumb dimple and flatten it with the box to break up the clumps it works better. I sometimes do the line method on the back of my hand using the box to line it up. Roam posted a link to a video of him using these methods that I found useful. If I knew what thread it was on I would give you a link. If he reads this he might post it again or point to the thread.

S

I’ve seen that video before. He’s using the Poschl Gleitscher. I’ve never had a problem with Poschl snuffs, they always seem to feed very nicely, even in the biggest doses I can manage. I did try breaking it up with the back of the box tho and it seemed to work a bit better. I’m thinking maybe the new Bernards snuffs are a bit more moist and clumpy than the older versions? Still very worth the effort to me since I could easily drown myslef in this stuff.

A

28 for me

J

19 Michigan USA, started off dippin Kodiak when i was like 15ish switched to smoking around 16 or 17 and now trying to transition to snuff much more pleasant than cigarettes but those little devil sticks are hard to get rid of and i dont care what anybody says they are enjoyable just maybe not as much as snuff.

K

23 started dipping at 12 or so copenhagen and kodiak before that. I’m definately using snuff to get off of dip and I’ve found that its a lot more dynamic and therfore interesting to me personally. There are so many types compared to dip. Ive also noticed the more I snuff in public the more accepted it has become especially lately. I guess most people are pretty open minded when the choice is snuff or stand outside in a blizzard by yourself to get a smoke.

A

This is true, everybody wnats to try my snuffs

M

I am 28.

W

30 myself… @Roderick, you didn’t sound more than 35 on the phone

L

Currently our average is at 37.

B

screw the average. How old are we all if you add or combined ages together? Though it makes me wonder what the average years of snuff experience people on this list have. Example I’ve been snuffing off and on for 14 years three or so of these years mainly snuffing.

P

Thank you leman!!! I would never have guessed the average so low, or young. And yes Bob, if we add up the years off all our snuffing experience, wonder how many 1000’s that will be!!

E

34 years of snuffing, on and off. Mostly on now of course.

J

Heck, do they even have age restrictions on tobacco in Latvia? When I started using tobacco in about 79’ or 80’ The only restriction was on cigarettes and that was 14. Everything else it was up to the shopkeeper as to whether they thought you were old enough.

E

In the UK it’s illegal for anyone under 18 to buy tobacco. I suspect it’s the same across the EU now.

S

Latvia The sale of tobacco products to persons under the age of 18 is prohibited per On Tobacco Products Manufacture, Sales, Advertising And Smoking Restrictions (approval date 18 December 1996, effective date 1 January 1997). Cigarette vending machines are also prohibited. see >>>>>>>> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smoking\\_age#Latvia

S

Yeah Jarhog, I remember the old days. Before the Clinton Administration declared war on the US tobacco industries you could stroll into any store and just grab what you wanted off the shelf. Now its all tucked away behind the counter and you have to be of age to buy any tobacco product. Nothing like the broad shotgun of overkill to set the tone. Even tho the tobacco companies were guilty of some major skulduggery, I think they over played it a bit. I’m 43 with greying hair and I couldn’t even buy a bottle of wine recently at Wal-Mart because my drivers license was expired. Sigh.

J

I refuse to buy anything that they have to swipe my ID for. It is none of their beeswax who I am if I pay cash.

J

@Jarhog, and thats how it should be but it just aint. im only 18 but i grew up on a farm and i have more freinds that are 60+ than my own age so i still have some good ole fashion values(or opinions i guess) before two long there gonna make us step on a scale before we buy a candy bar and I.D. us for fucking energy drinks.

S

You maybe closer than you think about those energy drinks John. They’ve already yanked Mini Thins off the shleves. But don’t worry, now that we’re being forced to switch to digital TV everything will be ok.

J

They don’t call it TV PROGRAMING for nothing!!!

B

Anyone notice that all of the shows worth watching seem to come out on dvd and without a glut of stupid idiotic commercials? Though one of the things that amazes me is how shocked people are to find out I don’t watch my free cable and that I walk everywhere. People have no problem driving over an hour to get to work, yet think I’am crazy for walking tweenty minutes to work. I guess I’am saying people confuse me.

S

What kills me are the people that go to health clubs then spend ten minutes circling the parking lot to find the closest space to the door.

J

@spyro lol ive often thought the same thing i actually pick a further away space so i dont have to got to the gym. ofcoarse that in itself wont do it but add a bunch of little things together and it helps.
