Is there anyway that you could do a moist snuff? I just love using your snuffs but having a deviated septum just makes taking toasts a practice in pain management. I started using Samuel Gawith but its a tad too smokey for all day use for me, but man is it so easy to take. Is it possible to have an english toast like F&T HDT and Toque Natural Toast to maintain its flavor while being more moist, or is this an impossibility? I just did not know if Roderick had thought about this for a sample for a new line or if this just does not interest him. No matter what I do, even after all of these years, I find that on most days I cannot enjoy toasts like I want, I always get hit in the throat.
i know your pain. same problem with toque, never understood why they were recommended for beginners. however, im just getting used to it. i can now take the pain, as i use toasts and scotches at the moment.
It’s easy enough to adjust the moisture level of your snuff. If you find it too dry, try this: 1. take the lid off the tin, 2. put it in a tupperware container, 3. dampen a paper towel large enough to cover the container, 4. place the damp paper towel over the top of the container, and 5. put on the lid. Come back in about 24 hours, and see if the snuff is moist enough for you. If not, re-dampen the paper towel, and give it some more time. I do this all the time as I like the flavor of toasts, but prefer a higher moisture level. Works great. Depending on what your local tap water is like, you might wish to use distilled water, as it won’t add any additional scent.
I was going to petition Toque something similar. A snuff similar in coarseness and moisture to Berwick Brown, but unscented. Something dark and rich like Kendal Brown or Viking Brown.

This is a good suggestion. Even if you order a moist snuff, the moisture will eventually exit the container and you will need to remoisturize anyway (unless it is an oiled German snuff). It couldn’t hurt to try this with your current stock and see if it works in your favor.
Make sure you use pure water. Tap water ruins snuff.
yeah, keep us posted! and for this moistening, would boiled water count? i plan on rescuing snuffs, however tap water ruined the taste of my snus.

Friend! Comrade! Brother! and I thought I was all alone! The only Toque I can use is Berwick Brown - the rest just make me sneeze. In my dreams I see a “Toque Macouba” or some sort of Regency style snuff - I really believe that Roderick would find it lucrative to pursue this. Toque are such excellent snuffs and deserve our support - if only they were not so fine and dry. :-L
You just need to learn to take toque. I found their snuff hard to take as a newbie.
I find each Toque so different and I’m a noob. Even ones that have similar grind. I’m sure there is no difference between Lavender and Rose besides the scent. I find Rose much easier to take. With the toasts, I find Whiskey & Honey much easier to take than Natural or Bourbon. I find Toque Original hardest to take of the ones I have tried. I love everything about these little Toques. Like I said, a Toque with the Berwick cut with the flavor of Santo Domingo. Dark and earthy.
Toque snus would get my vote!
@Roderick - an oiled Toque would be a fine idea!

I believe that snuffmakers in the UK can only moisten their snuffs with water by law, a pity since it will be a good experiment!
@Wulfensteinsson true, but if Roderick says something is in the works I believe him. He’s got lots of tricks up his sleeves. Maybe if its made in Ireland, or the Isle of Man or somewhere outside the UK it would be legal.
I’m fairly sure the laws in England against tobacco adulteration lapsed (or were repealed) some years ago, so I don’t think its an issue.
I was just pointing what I´ve read here a lot of times, anyway, the fame of Roderick as a resourceful man precedes him, I´ve no doubt he has some trick in his bag to come with an oiled snuff, when it´s avaliable to the public I´ll make sure to give it a try. PD:TOQUE snus gets my vote too! :))
I don’t need a toque equivalent for every other snuff, but I do think variants of the Berwick Brown would be really cool. I can’t wait to see what kinds of new snuffs we can get in limited edition. @Roderick the idea would behind that is to see how the new snuffs are received in order to decide if they’re worth adding to the line permanently, right?
Toque could make a cat vomit scented snuff and I would still buy it!
Don’t tempt him, @Skell18, that’s how Cheese & Bacon was born…
