I think I love schmalzer snuffs ! Could anyone recommend some strong ones for me to do that are good to blast away at all day long ? I’ve got the blue checkered Bernard one that’s mentholated and the one in the yellow box already , they are both super bomb !!! I love how the yellow one smells weird .

@Skeletonkiss strong as in Vitamin N, or scent or a strong menthol? All the ones I have tried have been strong in scent although more of a desert snuff that I have to do copious quantities of to get my nicotine fix. I mainly reserve Schmalzers for Xmas and special occasions. I’m sure someone else can chime in and give you a more accurate representation, this is just from my experience

Schmalzers aren’t terrible high in nicotine. You could try the Germanic style snuffs offered in Citrus and Lime from Toque, but even those aren’t eye opening when it comes to nicotine. If you like the coarse grind of schmalzers, I’d suggest trying Viking Dark. It has a notable kick and is easy to take. Just note that it won’t taste like a schmalzer.

Ok that makes sense . I sniff up mountains of it at work but I still want to smoke . It’s a smell good type of snuff though .

Since Schmalzers are so scent strong you could try adding 1:5 Toque Rustica to get you nic hit and I’m sure it wont effect the scent too much, especially if you have a Schmalzer with a long standing scent

I’ve added Rustica to Germanic snuff before. It alters the consistency a bit. I did a 50/50 mix once, it turned into something akin to wet sand. It was easy enough to take, but it loved to clump.

Agreed … Thor’s Hammer is also stellar and much more natural in scent.

@cobguy I always thought that Thor’s Hammer was mentholated, so it’s never made it into my cart.

Viking Thor’s Hammer is akin to Viking Dark Light, if that parody makes sense. To me it’s like a blend of Dark and Blond. It’s good though, same scent as Dark, only lighter. I use it when I don’t want my nose running as bad!

Thors Hammer is clearly a 60/40 mix of Dark and Blond. It is delicious and i own a kilogram of it. As far as schmalzlers go, the only one I have found to be of substance in the nicotine department, by itself, is Bernard’s Aecht alt Baverischer. With the exception of that snuff, i turn to schmalzlers purely for flavor.

Rustica from Toque. That is all. Lol

I always thought that schmalzlers have relatively high nicotine content, although I tend to take them by the spoon so maybe that explains…

Is Gekachelter Virginie a schmalzer? If so, I find it has plenty of nic if only, like SkeG before, I can shovel it in by the barrowload.

@fj1988 I’m interested in trying Gekachelter Virginie, how would you describe the scent and the nic content compared to an English snuff? I looked it up on MrSnuff it is only $5.25 for 50g this cant be right?

yellow box virginie snuff smells awesome !! The smell is like how your clothes smell after you sit around a camp fire .

Is that price right though, must be some of the cheapest snuff on the market 

@Aamon, yup the price is right! I made a comment about this on the recent thread entitled ‘Name one snuff everyone should try’, musing that the cardboard packaging could be the only explanation for the discouragingly low price. Skeletonkiss nails it with ‘campfire’. To me, it has many similarities with Viking Dark but with every quality ramped up a notch. I find it reasonable in the nic dept but it’s easy to overdo just cos it’s so ridiculously easy to pile in without the slightest hint of trauma.

@Aamon, Poeschl Schmalzlers are even cheaper gram-wise. 100 grams for five euros
