So far I have tried 2 : McChrystal’s Apricot and Toque Apricot. They could not be any more different. The McChrystal’s is a flavor I would call close to candy like - and do I detect just the ghost scent of some menthol? Toque - the flavor is more “true to fruit”- like . Very nice. I see that Apricot is a common variant with several mills - what have you liked? disliked? How would you rank them?
Toque Apricot. Real fruit on excellent tobacco. IMHO the best of the bunch and one I dip into frequently. Roderick is the Grand Poobah of fruit snuff; natural, no “candy” crap or artificial scent/flavor. Just damn good snuff. He’s also one of the few, if not the only, snuff maker that figured out how to deliver mentholated fruit snuff. Wonderful snuffs. For the record, I hate menthol snuff, but I can hoover up a gram or ten of Toque menthol fruit in a heartbeat. In the same vicinity are his other snuffs with fruit as the feature, but never overpowering the excellent tobacco base, St. Clement, Toast and Marmalade and Lime Toast are exemplary and regulars on my desktop. His other fruit offerings show up in my spoon on a regular basis; Blueberry, Raspberry, Apricot and Peach have taken up rent free residence in my nose. The cherry is also good, but tends to fade fast, at least for me. Poschl Gawith Apricot is a menthol thermonuclear warhead with multiple re-entry vehicles and some apricot somewhere in there, damned if I can find it after decades of searching. It, and the Cola, are part of their “Gawith” offering, good snuff, but just don’t launch my launch. The menthol, you understand. SG and WoS have some fruits that are tolerable but not accurate. I think GH gave up the effort when George Washington was hacking down errant fruit trees. For me, Fruit=Toque. Period. As always, that is my humble opinion and your mileage may vary.
Yeah, look no further than Toque. And chefdaniel–what, you didn’t mention Toque Pomegranate…
@chefdaniel , @Mouse - Yeah - I am learning that so far gram for gram , every Toque I have tried I like … I have some on order in addition to what i already possess. (On hand - Apricot, Peach, Toast & Marm., Whiskey and Honey, Coke, Vanilla ad Toffee )
Also - So I am slow on the uptake - I take it that @Roderick on the forum is the one and the same you refer to? Man that is cool - We have some heavy hitters here, nose to thhumb with the end users, trading advice, opinion and info. I have another thread going where @sixphoto responded, and i see the @Abraxas posts - too cool… (Thanks/apologies to all for the name dropping - just kind of amazed at the genteel, open communication in this forum that seems kindly unique compared to others i have been on for various hobbies … )
@Mouse Damn! Another senior moment induced brain fart. Pomegranate is, well, pomegranate. And one damn fine fruit snuff that captures an elusive scent/flavor. No easy feat, just very nice snuff that is refreshing and deep at the same time. Like I said, no easy feat.
I have to give a plus to Gawith Apricot. Yes menthol but for me just enough apricot.
Paul Gotard Apricot is a pretty good approximation of the fruit. The grind is a bit course and the base tobacco has a nice flavor too. In all this is a underrated brand and they actually use a tap box which works very well with their snuffs.
The only apricot snuff I use is Wilson’s. It’s a great base tobacco with a rich fruity scent. I can’t use Toque apricot, because my nose interprets it as a horrible movie theater butter taste, truly awful, but I’ve only found one other person that agrees with me. Toque Pomegranate is my hands down favorite snuff.
gawith apricot is the best of the ones Ive tried. Nice menthol with apricot on the sideline. McC apricot was… well… I dont even know. It was just sweet.
WoS is best Apricot; thrice or more daily for me.
I do enjoy the scent of the Toque Apricot the best, but it dissipates pretty quickly. To my tastes, that’s usually the story with Toque - great aroma that doesn’t last very long. I usually end up going with Sam Gawith which isn’t my favorite of the apricots, but it’s pretty darn good and it lasts quite a while.
Cool - thanks so far for the input. I received an order from MR Snuff today that i had included an Asst. of Fruit snuffs by WOS - I have now added to my collection ( but have yet to try ) the WOS Apricot, and WOS Apricot and Menthol.
Anyone had Qsnuff apricot? Their jasmine was one of the first snuffs I bought and it was damn good! Curious about the apricot now.
In agreement with so many others in this thread, Toque makes the best fruit snuffs of anyone. No doubt about it. There is no other snuff blender in Toque’s league in this category, in my experience. However, there are others that rise to the challenge on occasion. For example, try McCrystal’s Raspberry. It is surprisingly good.
Wos apricot is quite incredible. Really great fruit scent! Easy to take. One of the first snuffs i tried and loved. Have kept on me since and at all times and use as a refreshing all day snuff.

I liked it. It has a bit of menthol, not too much though, and the apricot scent is fairly strong. I did not find it as strong as QSnuff’s Jasmine or Sandalwood, both of which I’ve set aside because I found them to be just too heavily scented for my tastes. I think if you liked the jasmine, you’ll probably like the apricot.
I’m not a big fan of fruit snuffs, but the Toque range are the best I’ve tried. Also trues for florals. They actually smell like flowers, not like floral perfume.
@JakartaBoy Spot on. Toque fruits and florals are outstanding and unique.
My most recent discovery is that snuffs like these - the fruits, the florals, and perfumey snuffs - mix exceedingly well with Viking Dark. It gives them a solid tobacco base to work with. Three or four parts VD for every part of the perfume, I’m going to have to see if I can enjoy some of the F&T range if it’s done that way.
