I’d like to experiment with snuffmaking, and am curious about some techniques for applying scents to the flour. I feel like good results could be achieved by setting flour and and oils in a rock tumbler. Does anybody use this technique? Does it seem effective, or foolish?

Essential oils can be diluted with perfuming alcohol then mixed in easily. The alcohol then evaporates. Look up perfuming online for tons of information, some very relevant to perfuming snuff. I have never used essential oils myself but I have mixed in other oils to shmalz the flour. Let us know how you do. I think if you add a small amount of oil to a snuff that is over hydrated it may be more evenly absorbed than if added to a dry snuff. Resting a mix will balance the scent effectively anyhow I suppose. We’ll find out. Certainly not foolish, be careful not to use too much oils and good luck.

In a large sealed container , I normally just add essential oils to a cotton swab and let the tobacco absorb the oil by osmosis. Over night is enough time. Then bottle it up. oils evaporate quickly
