Is there a snuff out there like McChrystals O&G? I am looking for a really good menthol snuff. It doesn’t have to be exactly like it but I would like a high quality interesting menthol.

M

I find most other English menthol snuffs a little one dimensional compared with O&G, not a big fan of Hedges but I do like Wilsons Medicated 99. Best menthol snuff (other than O&G) for me is Bernards Jubilaums snuff, its heaven! Loads of flavour.

S

Gawith Hoggarth CM is the equivalent if you can get it in a bulk tub.

F

Snuffhead is right, CM isn’t quite the same, but it is very similar. I use both regularly

O

Another vote for CM. My favorite GH so far and very similar to O&G. There’s also L260 and Wilson’s Menthol Extra if you want strong menthols.

G

I went with the SM500 and I love it.

W

WoS SM Blue is similar. I bought a lb of it because I was tired of paying £32.99 for 12 xl cans of O&G. I’ve been using it instead of O&G and I now find that I prefer it. Stefan

O.G. is the most overrated snuff in my opinion. Oh well.

G

I’m gonna have to try that SM Blue

B

I must say I wasnt fond of O&G myself, much preferred Wilsons no.99 and Hedges. Toque menthol is also nice.

O

They’ve just started selling O&G in my local supermarket here in Switzerland. It’s the only snuff they sell. I’ve always really liked O&G.

J

I think it is an excellent snuff but I don’t understand the way it is regarded as one of a kind. Its just another menthol snuff.

J

I don’t think O&G has been rated to highly. It’s just that it is so popular and rated so frequently. I give it a thumbs up.

D

Haven’t tried SM500 yet, but if you like menthol snuffs definitely try Hedges L260 like others have said. I like O&G allot, and after I discovered Hedges, that remained my favorite in menthol snuffs. Also a bit milder but I like Samuel Gawith Zip as well, a bit different then O&G though.

P

O&G is no ordinary menthol snuff. There are a lot of nuances in there, one can still smell the tobacco and there’s even a hint of citrus. In L260 and no.99 the menthol is overwhelming to a point where it actually hurts. That goes for a lot of other menthols. This snuffs can’t be used as a daily snuff whereas lots of O&G snuffers use nothing else but O&G. Myself used O&G only for many years.

M

I agree, O&G is special! I can go months without but then I take a pinch from a fresh tin and it’s wonderful!

K

I agree also, I have found that O&G is in a class of it’s own.

P

O&G seems to be a “love it or hate it” snuff. Personally I think there are better medicated snuffs available for less money per gram, but to those who love the stuff, more power to you.

W

I personally think that O&G is without peers, although like Dave I cannot tolerate the rebound, and that my friends is a damn shame, I love O&G. The mention of S,nuff is interesting, for I absolutely hated this one too, at first, now I get a craving for it, and (once again), it is fabulous in bulk. That pronounced bergamot is beguiling. I fill the small tins and keep them in the door pocket of my car, I give these away all the time to prospective snuffers.

I love O&G, an English menthol that seems to me more complex than all the other menthols I’ve tried. The warm, spicy, and somewhat leathery scent make this snuff, to me, well worth the extra cost per tin, in fact I’m coming round to the Idea of using it exclusively, instead of having semi used tins all over the house that are half stale and untidy to boot I may reduce my collection and just keep a fresh 250 gram tub in the fridge. I don’t think that I’d miss all the others because O&G is my favorite by some distance.

M

In my local tobacconist I can get a 5 gr. tin for 50 eurocent, so it’s a kind of “emergency snuff” for me though I overdid it too much on the beginning that I ended up a little tired of it. I really love Hedges, but I experimented the same kind of problems with it. Bernard menthols are great, with Fichtennadel being my favorite, but I haven’t still found any snuff to be really similar to O&G… except for McChrystal’s Highland Ice, that is kind of sweeter and less impressive, in my opinion.
