I received some seeds from Giraone (don’t know if he’s still lurking, but he had an interesting thread a while back) and am planning on getting them on the ground this week (for germination) and hope to have them in the ground by the end of February.
Yes, I have some seeds from seedman. And for those who don’t know they also have Tobacco Flavorings & Enhancers Around here you can’t put anything in the ground till around the end of April beginning of May. Everything I grow I have to start a few weeks prior indoors to make sure I get the most out of the growing season. For anyone who might be interested, these work great for starting seeds indoors. I have 4 of these that I use. You start the seeds indoors and when they get around 2-3 inches tall, you transplant them outdoors. It allows for the perfect environment for seeds to start growing. Birds are known to see freshly unearthed seedlings & mistake them for food & uproot them. It a horrible feeling to walk out and see all your new seedling that had just popped up, laying on the dirt all shriveled up. Seed Starter Greenhouse And here is a more economical version. @ Merdock 69–End Of February!! I’ll be lucky if I’m not planting my foot on a snowshovel! Around here the season is so short your best bet is some Acme Flower Grow, like the stuff Bugs Bunny put on Elmer Fudds head, and it grew flowers. Classic. Anyone remember that one or am I showing my age.
I’m in the same boat as you are onefortheroad, thats why I have to start everything indoors. Its usually guaranteed we’ll have snow in April & occasionally May & once every few years the beginning of June. And if its not snow it hard frost. Luckily though I have a snowblower which actually makes snow removal enjoyable.
@lofat, you can ask seedman your questions & concerns. They are usually pretty quick to respond & seem happy to answer questions.
I have a lotta planning time, but the doing time seems to be quite a bit short. One of these years. Paul Z
