I’ve just found this Indian snuff producer and wondered if anybody had tried or even heard of them before. They are called Sree Radha & Co. and are based in Chennai (Madras). The website is www.snuffking.com, quite interesting reading. Stefan
No, but I’d snuff it. I love indian snuffs!
Nice find Walrus, interesting but I don’t think I’ll order any. I’ll LINK it for you.
I found that website a while back, and contacted them, but they never replied. I’ve never seen their snuff available in the US, or know how to get any.
I was just wondering, actually, if someone were to contact them, would they sell to just a single customer…I’m broke so I don’t think I’ll inquire, though as you’ve pointed out tom, it may not make any difference.
If anyone can get a good contact with any of the Indian snuff sites that are willing to sell, esp to the US individuals, let us know, as I am sure some would be interested to get in on it. But I don’t think one will have any luck with it. I know I haven’t. I was interested in the UMA and Arora snuffs.
Selling to a few people in America probably isn’t a top priority to them!
They’ve probably got a minimum order of at least a couple hundred (if not thousand) dollars worth of product to make it worth shipping over here. Anyone that confident they’re going to like it? Seriously, if someone could organize a large group purpose, I’d throw down my share of money.
They may be more receptive if say, Dave or someone tried to get some.
Well, the best option would be a snuff seller, like MrSnuff, but he has had no luck with these companies either. I gave him a big list a while back, and he said he was getting nowhere with them.
Quite a few of them just never get back to you one way or another.
Only one did reply to me, a while back, and said they could not mail to the US.
They probably make a killing just selling locally. Its a shame, but good luck to 'em anyways.
I’m sure they do quite well with local sales, but it sort of begs the question of why the entire site is in English. Their Ghee Snuff sounds interesting. Guessing it might be reminiscent of a Schmaltlzler?
I don’t think it would be. The TAS Madras No. 1 snuff I sent out to a few people is treated with ghee, and it’s quite similar to a toast. Ghee seems to be more of a flavouring agent than anything that changes the style.
@shikitohno Ahhh. Ok. Of course that begs the wisecrack “I love Ghee on toast!”, though.
@Mr_Snuffy: I might be wrong, but besides Hindi, English is a major language of India. Remember, it used to be a British Colony.
And English is lingua franca with rest of Old India; Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.
@cstokes4 With hundreds of regional languages, India does a lot of web traffic in English. I had thought it slightly strange that there wasn’t even a link in Tamil. The website read like something to interest parties from afar. Maybe “afar” in this case means Maharashtra, but who knows?
They mention sales in Bangladesh, Nepal and China.
