Any Snuffers in Texas?

I’m trying to start a revolution. I am the manager at The Briar Shoppe–Houston’s oldest tobacconist, in the same family for 52 years, with Texas’ best pipe and pipe tobacco selection. But I want to have premium snuffs as well. Have you ever wondered why snuff is not widely available at your local tobacco shop? Besides the obvious fact that snuff is not a worldwide sensation, there is the additional problem of snuff having a very closed and very dispersed distribution. It is a lot of extra work on our part to bring snuff to the brick and mortar. We even have customers that tell us, “if you bring this in, I’ll buy it for whatever price,” even if they can find it online. But we can’t find them! It’s a constant frustration. But I want to put in the work to make sure that our local snuffers get what they need from us. Especially if you’re from Texas, please let me know; what are the top five snuffs that you would want to find at a brick and mortar. I would appreciate a response from anyone, and I would like it even better if you visited our store next time you’re in Houston. Thank you for your help. R

I’m not in TX but I spend a lot of time around the DFW area and know of many snuffers. In my experience most snuffers are working people that live in rural areas that do some type of job that does not allow them to smoke. (Gas & Oil, work grain elevators, mining industry, even medical type stuff). As a rule they tend to snuff American Scotches because they don’t know there is an alternative, whenever I have offered friends a English dry or German oiled snuffs they accept them happily and want to know where they can buy them at a brick & mortar store and are disappointed that they have to send away and indicate that they probably wouldn’t bother. Since these fellows are accustomed to getting snuff from the supermarket or drugstore I don’t think it occurs to them to visit the tobacco store for snuff. Hopefully this info is helpful. On a personal note, if I’m ever in Houston I will be visiting The Briar Shoppe especially if you carry snuff!

Personally I can’t find anyone who hasn’t enjoyed Viking dark snuff. Might be worth a try. I live in New York : (

I wish there was a tobacconist near where I live that had bulk snuffs, snuff spoons, and snuff boxes. Sold by the ounce or half ounce with free tastes for the customers. Would be heaven.

Im in San Antonio. It would be nice to see coarse ground snuffs such as Bernard’s Virginie or Cardinal and SG products.
