I really like the ease of use and portability of these Poschl tap boxes. Can these be refilled or do any after market ones exist that I can fill with my own?
Just open the rubber cork and prise the 2 sides apart with your thumbs. After refilling they simply snap back together. I don’t know if all the Poschl tap boxes can be opened this way but the few I have can.
Something I’ve been wondering - are these pretty airtight? Safe to keep out of the sealed containers I keep the rest of my snuffs in?
The ones with the rubber corks, that is. I’m skeptical about the Alpina slide-style as well as the Bernard, but optimistic about the Poschl “rubber corks”
Rubber cork…yeah I realise now that was pretty dumb haha
None of the are airtight ime. All WILL desiccate given enough time. Some may take a decade or so, but all will dry. I know this firsthand
True, them not airtight. Some Poschl boxes are glued (my binned Gletscherprise Extra was), hence non-refillable.
Scandinavian Tobacco (Arnold Andre) use similar (easy refillable) boxes: https://www.snuffstore.de/schnupftabak/marken/weitere-marken-a-z/scandinavian-tobacco/ .
Gawith Hoggarth: http://snuff.me.uk/Gawith-Hoggarth-Snuff.asp Had a few, but I don’t remember if these are glued or not.
Samuel Gawith uses (or used) the same type as Bernard.
V2 Thunder tap boxes are the worst on the market, held together by label-sticker only. http://snuff.me.uk/products.asp?cat=7 Good for airing overly moist snuff.
At one point Dholakia were using similar boxes to those Poschl ones. Mr Snuff is out of stock, but the Snuffhouse Hive Mind might suggest alternative vendors!
