Any members from OK?

hi guys, i’m here in tulsa visiting for a couple of weeks and was wondering if there’s any members that live here that know where i can get snuff from? i’ve had w.e garret from one smoke shop but cant seem to find that many snuffs here. any help would be apreciated.

I’m down in Dallas TX. I’ve found nothing but Garrett’s locally. Try grocery stores. I found some cheap Garretts at Kroger here. Little mom and pop markets can be good for some of the other American brands. Other than getting lucky at a cigar shop you pobably won’t find the Euro brands. Good luck.

If I recall he is looking for American Snuff

You may try an see if there are some grocery stores on the North Side of town. It could be a little sketchy there late at night. North of 31st. I’m not sure what is up there. I go to Tulsa a bit but my business is South of there.

Visit Ted’s Pipe Shoppe at Utica Square. They might know where to obtain some.

When I first got into trying out different snuff types I used to dream of walking into back woods general stores and finding a shelf with snuff stocked. I soon realized that the U.S. laws requiring tobacco products to be kept behind the register/counter has caused a lot of old products to simply disappear. Thanks to the internet I have been able to try snuffs from all over the world.

thanks for the replies

i tried ted’s pipe shop and he had dean swift strawberry and the menthol, both are ok. probably wouldnt buy them again as i prefer other menthols that are available.

tried a couple of smoke shops but nothing there, lots of chewing tobacco but no nasal snuff.

went to a cigar shop in owasso (i think it was owasso) and he had some poshl snuffs. so i bought president, packards club and cherry. he also had spearmint but i didnt buy that as i’m not that fussed on mint snuffs. the prices were quite expensive i thought, almost double what i can get them for on the net (found this out later). but he told me that they were the last batch he could get, so maybe he jacked the prices up. but i like all three of the snuffs, easy to take and nice flavors so i would buy them again.

i also went to two walmarts and they didnt have anything. they had levi garret tobacco but the lady said it was dip? do they do dip and snuff?

i was hoping to find some rooster but nothing yet.

anyway, thanls for the replies, i’ll keep looking if i see a smoke shop or something similar.

Dean Swift = ancient! Pöschl prices sound typical for B&M, but he’s right about that being the end of the source. There are two products under the Levi Garrett name. If it was in a brown bottle it was the snuff. If it was in a pouch it was the chewing tobacco. There is no Levi Garrett dip (moist snuff) except for when dipping dry snuff. The bottled Levi Garrett snuff is identical to W.E.Garrett snuff - the regular not the sweet. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. My best luck with finding large selections of scotch snuffs has been at places that call themselves “Cigarette Outlets” (usually in lower economic strata areas) or sometimes at large supermarkets in rural or southern areas. Smoke shops and tobacconists rarely carry any snuff at all except for the odd ones that turn up, and like you found either have a few old Dean Swift or Pöschl. Nowadays in those, if you are lucky, you might find Dark Horse or Sliver Dollar. Good luck!

I’ll check with some of the guys I know from Tulsa and see if they can tell me of a grocery store in the right part of town to carry some snuff.

If I had a meeting scheduled I could get you a small selection from here. But my new boss, bless him, doesn’t like meetings that much!

the levi garret was in a pouch so must be the chewing kind.

i think i’m done searching, i wanted to find some rooster but i’ll order some online sometime. i’m enjoying the garret though, really nice and strong

@slide:

thanks, i appreciate it. if you know someone who knows where i can get rooster from that would be nice, thabnks for the help

I checked my my friend. He said the best bet would be Indian Smoke Shops. He said it is not as common in Oklahoma compared to Louisiana and Arkansas.

But I would Google Indian Smoke shop for Tulsa and Owasso.

Sorry your search hasn’t been more productive.

Its ok, I’ve tried some different ones since I been here anyway. I really like the Garret. Thanks for asking for me though, appreciate it.
