Hi all, just wondering if there are any martial artists here on the forum. My studio was nominated for KING 5 TV’s “Best in Western Washington” ratings contest, and I was wondering if I might get a supportive vote from fellow martial artists/snuffers… My studio, Seattle Wushu Center, is currently in 2nd place in the “Best Martial Arts” category. If you choose to vote, Cast your vote under “martial arts” (not crossfit or gym). Voting ends October 18th http://best.king5.com/seattle-wushu-center/biz/666818 My studio is one of only two Wushu schools and one of very few Eskrima schools in my area, and I’d like to expand into the public, considering that we’ve kept to our ourselves for over 22 years. I’m hoping the exposure will bring enough students for me to move out of this room that we’re renting in a photography studio (we were kicked out of my previous location because I was being made to pay for structural plumbing pipe replacements by the landlord, and I refused, stating that structural building issues are the owner’s responsibility). I had to find somewhere quickly, so my classes did not go on hold, and I found the room for rent. However, it is rented by the hour, and it severely limits my class offerings. Many people quit when we moved, because I could not offer the same amount of classes, and now its gotten to the point where I need to get myself more in the public eye to attract more students. This nomination for the “Best in Western Washington” will greatly help…moreso if I stay in the top 3 placeholders. Some friends, however, have noticed that people who voted for the current 1st placeholder, have put my nomination under unrelated categories, such as “Crossfit” and "gym’. I’m not a gym nor do i offer CrossFit, so I’m surprised and shocked that such rigging is going on. If you choose to vote, please vote under “best martial arts”, not Crossfit or Gym. So, fellow snuffers, I thank you in advance for any votes. Snuff on!! http://best.king5.com/seattle-wushu-center/biz/666818

Well, I voted - you are indeed the best martial arts place I know of in Seattle. I think you need to contact your students and ask them to vote. I see in the comments that they have a lot of affection for “Sifu Rusty”. Good luck! Geraldo

I’m happy to vote. I myself have studied martial arts for just about 25 years, mostly korean styles (tae kwon do and hapkido) with a smattering of seminars and work out sessions in other styles. Happy to supper you here, I hope you do well. - MadMonk (Steve)
