Any Good Tobacco-free non-mentholated snuffs?

Hi folks, I’m coming back to the world of snuff after a few years hiatus (I thought it was a couple, turns out it’s been at least 5 years). Anyway, regarding the tobacco and the nicotine, I can take it or leave it. To be honest, I’d rather leave it - I don’t need the nicotine fix and I’m not awfully keen on developing a habit for something my doctor’s going to tell me is not good for my high blood pressure or my general health. But my dilemma is that I like the smell of many regular snuffs and I loathe every single tobacco-free snuff that I’ve tried: so many seem to be overly sweet, mentholated to the max and with no complexity whatsoever. Also, I tried one non-mentholated tobacco-free snuff and it was dry as a bone, had no complex flavor and was just awful. Maybe it was just really old stock. Admittedly, I’m far from an old hand at this snuff-taking business - I dabbled a few years ago, but effectively it was a fleeting romance, and I lost the urge to keep taking the stuff. I have about the same relationship with it as I have with cigars - I’ll get the urge, try it for a week or two, then lose interest for a year or more. So I never learn enough to know what’s good or what would suit me better. So can anyone recommend a tobacco-free snuff that is more along the lines of a nice moist Fribourg & Treyer or Wilson’s of Sharrow variety? If such a thing doesn’t exist, I suppose I’ll do what I usually do - try the tobacco snuffs for a few weeks and then fall off the bandwagon again for a while.

Thai and Chinese snuffs are usually herbal ditto energy snuffs @Beery - Have you tried MrSnuff?

My basic question would be: Without nicotine, what is the point? In my case, my primary reason for liking snuffs are their decongestant qualities – but I still get the nicotine. I seem to be the only one on this site with this perspective… Who knows?.. Maybe it’s only self-justification!

I am sorry, but I have not found any non tobacco stuffs which I like at all, they are just not for me, (bleddy awful in my opinion). Before you give up on tobacco snuffs, there are such a wide and varied choice these days, perhaps you just havent found yet the type of snuff that suits you? What varieties have you tried? Mentholated/ non mentholated Course, moist/ dry, fine Plain, floral, complex , simple Indian, American, English, Dutch, German etc Schmaltzers Artisan snuffs… If you can let us know what you prefer regarding, texture, dryness, preferred smells - floral / spicy etc maybe we can steer you in the right direction. Bear in mind however than many of the non tobacco snuffs are sugar based, and sugar is not recommended by doctors either!

@Beery Have you tried any of the Old Mill Artisan snuffs? While they are tobacco based, I’ve found they are fantastic. Highly complex, moist, medium to fine grind and fairly moderate in nicotine. I’d recommend those that I’ve had so far: Lambic, Melba’s Toast, Moulin Rouge, Suzette and Yvette.

Have some and can work for some folks in different ways. I do a Tsp. To cup of boiled water on occasion. Works well for me as I don’t use caffeine.
