what a douche. Seriousily bitching about second hand smoke while living in a city which is known for smog. Seriousily smog is way worse then second hand smoke. I’am suprised no one clocked the mofo out.

J

thing is if he would have got it banned at the pool next thing would have been private patios then inside your own apartment … where i live they banned smoking at the pool next thing you know they banned alcohol ( not even allowed plastic cups

What a friggin idiot. I can’t even gather the words to describe how much I hate people like this.

I had a bartender coworker named Darrell be asked if smoking was allowed at the bar by an intoxicated women who then ignored the reply and lit up. He took the soda gun and shot the cigarette out of her hand with a perfectly aimed short stream of water. She was dumbfounded and then immediately forgot what she was doing and went on as if nothing happened. It was the funniest thing and a classic example of the character Darrell was. In this case you brought up the man was simply standing up for the sake of his family. It was his obligation and he performed it as any man should. Right or wrong it was his duty.

S

If he was that concerned about his family, why not move them to a place where smoking was not allowed? The article stated that he fought with the management for 10 years to get a smoke-free area… after a while, wouldn’t it make sense to use that time just to find a better place to live? Smoking is a personal choice, and people have the right to do so if they please. If he found smoking offensive, he should have respectfully removed himself from the situation, rather than imposing his will on others. The article really doesn’t depict the entire context of the situation, but those people who were smoking were not breaking any rules and their peace was violated when he assaulted them. If I was minding my own business and doing something I had the right to be doing, I’d be furious if some a-hole sprayed me with a squirt bottle.

People have always acted like idiots. Its your mission to show them how a gentleman acts. This is your world also, kill them with kindness and too really burn their bridges never react when they try to push your buttons. Arm your self with facts it will make them reanalyze their stand on matters. Knowledge is power! I am sorry for the young daughter, her parents should had moved out of LA. when she was diagnosis with the asthma, While Ca. is at it; they should ban the combustion engine. All those vehicles spewing fumes into the public air space. And close the airports they have the third largest amount air traffic on the planet. That Jet fuel can’t be good for anything. I have seen old people in there 90 who have smoke 80 of those years. Everyone dies at some point the tobacco industry and its consumers are easy targets, New unbiased research is needed for tobacco use.The insurance company’s have reaped profits from tobacco users from the tainted research. All the animal testing proved that smoking does not cause cancer. Emphysema, and heart and lung disease yes.Smoking research over the last 70 years even being wrong says you have a .08 or 8% chance of getting cancer here is more facts to arm yourself with http://d1002391.mydomainwebhost.com/JOT/editorials/vol-1/e1-4.htm

From the way it sounds in the story the guy didn’t try talking. And also he wanted to protect his family? Then he’d jump in front of a bus and safe them from having a moron hypocrite as a father. It says he lives in an area of the country which has so much air pollution you’ve be better off living in the middle of PA and start smoking (at least as far as your asthama and lung health would be concerned). No dudes not willing to change his life or behavior or do anything everyone else is supposed to change for him. That means he’s a douche. It never mentions him trying to talk or be reasonable or changing anything in his life. He’s doing more damage then trying to force other people to change. Funny story I know people who really react badily to second hand smoke, most of the time if someone says hey she’s got asthama (or something) would you mind going a little bit away from here, the person asked will often say sure no problem. No this guy thinks smokers aren’t people and he can harass them because he’s a troll that no one loves and his family probably only lets him do this because they’re hopeing that the next person he’s a jerk to is a gang memeber already having a really horrible day.

B

oh I just had to ad a slight caveat that I don’t agree with the smoking not causeing lung cancer or that animal testing could disprove that cigarette smoking is carcinogenic towards the lungs. I’am fine with you thinking that, I just would feel remiss not editing my agree because I think you’re spot on in the rest of the post, but feel it’s important to say that. Cheers.

the oakwood apartments he lives at . large companies relocate top people to these places from all around the world intill they get settled and find an apt or house to live in … who knows why this guy has been living there so long … oakwood apts all over california my brother stayed in one for a few months

I’ve been told that too, and also told that if second hand smoke was that bad you’d find lots of pipe and cigar smokers getting cancer etc since they get more second hand smoke.

Most of you seem to sadly, be missing the point. The point is this: There is no drug as addictive nor as satisfying as having control over other human beings. No rush can compare with forcing another to bend to your will. Our government is drunk with this addiction. Here are a few examples: In Washington State in the U.S. one can only smoke inside one’s own home…and then only if he owns the home. Renters have no legal place in which to smoke, as smoking in rental units, one’s own automobile, on public streets, in public parks, bars, restaurants, churches and near incinerators and heavily-tragveled freeways is prohibited by law. I encountered a woman who had just moved from Washington to Florida; she was ticketed by a police officer not only for smoking in her car, but because the cop had determined that a schoolbus some three blocks ahead of her had passed as she was lighting the cigarette, she was also charged with child endangerment. Costa Rica, where tobacco is cultivated and where cigars play a minro but significant economic role, all public smoking in businesses, parks etc. is banned…to the point that even private outdoor balconies attached to bars are no-smoking areas. The fines are Draconian by U.S. standards, but with the local economy, they can be life-ending. Unintended consequences abound; tourists who exit bars to smoke on the sidewalk have become the latest targets of opportunity for muggers. Panama has outlawed E-cigs…without any scientific evidence that they cause any harm whatsoever. Delta airlines not only prohibits smoking on its aircraft, but *any* form of tobacco or nicotine, with the exception of those profitable but ineffective patches and gum. Snus, dip, pellet tobacco and yes, nasal snuff are all strictly prohibited on all flights. Period, and no discussion reasonable or otherwise. Yet you can buy as many alcoholic drinks as you care to swallow and piss all over the lavatories after getting half hammered on $8.00 cocktails. The world has gone mad with the lust each of us feels to enslave and control others. Here’s a hint: Watch for any proposed law that purports to protect children. That’s your first warning sign. Off my soapbox, but it really sucks. How does my snuffing/chewing adversely affect the health of anyone near me? And BTW, fat-arsed Americans… I’ll quitt smoking in public when you give up that emission-spewing S.U.V. Amen.

B

I know we’re not supposed to be political here but I think that one is on topic enough. Yeah for the children definatly seems to be a code word for take your rights away and if you argue it’s because you want to harm the children. I think more then politicaly but more humanily people need to realize how much control in their own lifes they do have (not that anyone has total control) but if people as a group realized how much power each one of us has just by being I think a lot of things would be better in a lot of ways. Just couldn’t resist getting up on the soapbox too.

M

Yes, me too. Dear God it’s f-ing crazy. It simply is getting hard to believe. (Also stepping down now)

I just like it when any kind of activist is declared a nuisance. Also, his wife is not easy on the eyes. Now I’m a nuisance too.

B

@Dogwalla said his wife is not easy on the eyes. It reverts back to alcohol here a video to explain http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FIT3WlIyy1Y&feature=player\\_detailpage
