so far i’m all about Packard’s club
Latakia A/P & Latakia Peppermint and always McC’s O&G.
I’m so boring… I don’t have one yet…
Christmas Joy and Latakia A/P
Also, really doesn’t feel much like winter here, 76 degrees today.
My old standby for the winter & through the holidays has been Levi Garrett, it just satisfies. And the Spanish Jewel gives a nice warming feeling. But with the new addition of Toque Ice, the candy cane snuff is finding its way into my holiday rotation, really goes good with the scent of the Christmas Tree. And the Espresso is going good with the chimney smoke in the air & the smell of the wood fire in the house. Christmas Joy is always good with the hot mulled cider or the hot buttered rum. I don’t limit myself to just one.
Beau Nash is dark & moist. Reminds me of Copenhagen Fine Cut.
This is only my second month of using snuff, so I’m still experimenting. At the moment, I’m still a big fan of Ozona Cherry. I just placed a huge order with Rajek’s that set me back about $108.00 shipping included. I ordered a lot of Poschl snuffs, a few McCrystal’s and a couple others just to mix it up a bit. I have found that no matter what snuff I use, as soon as I step out into the cold winter air, it seems to amplify the scent of my snuff. It’s making winter a little more tolerable for me
My favorite winter snuffs are definately the peppermint latakia. The wilson Honey Menthol and S.M. blue are a favorite. The cinnamon snuff I make in the winter I like because it warms me up like a motherfucker.
Its -1 degrees Celsius here already tonight. I have an old Sherlock Homes film on the TV (thanks to the internet archive!), the lights on the tree glowing and a big glass of Baileys. I have been switching between Poschl’s Club and Ozona President all evening. The phone is turned off as I have no intention of going anywhere in this cold! Not a bad Sunday night all in all.
Cold, -1 C? Maybe living in Alaska has skewed my perspective, but that’s bordering on rainy weather. I’m afraid I must ridicule you most severely. But I do agree with the sentiment. I’m about to switch off and get to the old typewriter.
Well I guess Alaska is a whole other level of cold TheLong! We do tend to moan about the weather in England, whatever it might be. Its tradition! What are you writing on the typewriter? Working on anything interesting? Troutstroker, I dont get the crossed out L?
It stands for No L. Get it? Just say ‘No L’ a few times. Its a holiday thing.
Mopey- I’m reworking a book. It’s my third (of four that I’ve written) and the first one that hasn’t been complete shite and worth the effort of revision. It’s one of the things I came to Alaska to do with relative solitude. That and write for the newspaper; but that just pays the bills. As you can tell, switching off has not been as cut and dry as it should have been. Sundays are generally not the best days for my willpower, haha.
@TL what kind of books do you write?
Well, the one I’m reworking is literary fiction and the one I wrote last month (for national novel writing month) is experimental fiction. I wrote the thing out on a typewriter and then put it into my computer, printed that out and revised it twice and then printed out another copy of the revised work and am now retyping it on the typewriter before putting it back into the computer again. Basically, I am forcing myself to rewrite because when I originally wrote the book I did the first 100 pages in about 6 months and then I wrote the next 150 in about six weeks, so the first half lacks the solid voice that is present in the second half. I hope by rewriting using the typewriter that I’ll be able to have a consistent voice all the way through. I’m still working on an intelligible synopsis. It’s such a hard thing to do; condensing months of effort down to a hundred or so words and still convey some idea of the purpose or quality of the work.
Luckily I write for a newspaper, so I feed myself by writing, and I usually have enough time to work on whatever I want at night. I’ve published a few small things, poetry mostly, but I think I’m going to give this authoring business a pretty sound run for its money. But, hey, when I graduated Uni with my degree in English I was stocking beer at supermarkets and living at home. After that I worked in IT and after a little while got a pretty sweet admin gig. Now I get paid less, but I don’t care, the satisfaction is infinitely greater doing what I’m doing now.
I heard about the November writing month thing after it had finished. It sounds like it would be fun, and having a community of others encouraging and helping would give you a boost to get it done I imagine. I started two pieces of writing this year and have not finished either of them, but you have just given me some enthusiasm for it again! I just need to send my girlfriend and kids away for a month or two…
Absolutely Omega. I started my own business this year, and its just about standing on its own two feet now. The satisfaction for me is not working for absolute a*seholes for nowt. At least this way I get out what I put in. My Xmas snuff btw is deKralingse’s Pompadour.
@ BrianC, I will give you a quick run down of the Dutch Windmill flavors. Macuba- Pure Virginia tobacco aromatised with Cognac and Rose oil Prins Regent- Based on the Macuba, but enriched with Bergamot oil and a dash of lemon A/P- This snuff is Latakia with the scent of pine forests Peppermint- Latakia flavoured with Japanese peppermint oil, eucalyptus and menthol Oranje- Latakia with the aroma of freshly peeled oranges Pompadour- Pure Virginia tobacco aromatised with Clove oil, Bergamotoil and a dash of lemon
Where else can you buy the Dutch Windmill? Mars is out of Macuba… Any other place you can buy bespoke CJ either?
There are plenty of sights you buy Dutch Windmills from overseas that ship to the US. Sometimes under the Molens name. And the best part is they come in the original container. I don’t know anywhere else in the States to buy it. I don’t know anywhere else to buy CJ.
www.snuifmolens.nl It’s in English too. It gives you ordering details on there.
You really can’t go wrong with any of the DeKralingse snuffs, I would highly recommend getting one of each for starters, they are cheap enough at mars. Thats what I did originally and now I order 4 each at a time. They are all quality, I list most of them amongst my favorites. Hands down my favorite snuff manufacturer. Now if Mars would just get that Orange in stock…
After getting a delivery of new snuffs recently I have been thinking of this one again. I love the menthol snuffs, but after a while my nose starts to feel too cold! last night I was throwing some Bordeux up there to keep things warm. On the review of Royal George, someone mentioned that that snuff had a warming effect also but I have not tried it. Are there any snuffs you guys have tried that really warm your noses up on a cold day? Just starting the day with a cup of earl grey and a couple of pinches of O&G to blow out the cobwebs!
Frederick Tranter’s country Doctor always gets my nose nice and warm, it’s aniseed and eucalyptus flavour, bloody lovely, like snorting Pernod or sambuca lol
Frederick Tranter’s No. 20, Tranter’s Regency, Spanish Jewel, Kloster Andechs, basically all the American snuffs, Toque Espresso, F&T Santo Domingo, omegapd’s Crooner snuff & usually any other vanilla scented snuffs. Samuel Gawith Irish ‘D’ Light, Dutch Windmills Orange
Cheers lads, can I justify a new order? I think I can!
Toque Xmas christmas pudding is the first thing I start christmas day off with! but any chocolate snuff brings me through the winter giving that warm feeling of a cup of hot coco.
Winter is coming. Wolves know this. This thread is ancient!
@Roderick This summer, in the States, hasn’t been at bad as last, daily average for my neck of the woods was 108°F with a record high of 119°F. Believe me, the summers stink! I can’t wait till our football season where the highs are in the mid 70s and the lows are in the upper 30s.
I hate the summer too. I want to find it and kick it’s ass several times and tell it to get the fuck out of town and I’ll murder it’s ass if I ever ever see it again. Sadily such a thing isn’t possible but if it was…
I live in Tacoma Washington and yesterday the 4th of July was the hottest day of this year 75 degrees god I hate this heat . Plus it didn’t rain . Can you belive it ??
kurtnose. You have no idea how jealous I’am right now.
@kurtsnose yeah, I could live with that. Easily.
What bob said. It’s about 100 degrees here right now.
Well I never cerebrated Christmas in July. But some xmas pudding sounds great
Well you can have it! I’m sick and tired of it after 31 years next Tuesday. I can always put more clothes on but there’s only so many I can take off, legally.
I might have a few people in mind roderick what I’am saying is if you’re serious we might be able to work something out. (of course I don’t mean that, if he kills anyone it’s not my fault)
I am new and really don’t have a special snuff for every occasion but until now I like Plain kinda snuff like Toque Natural, Toque Quit, FUBAR Grunt and 6 Photo Natural ( Oily snuff for some but plain for me as my nose is not so accurate until now).
It’s hot and humid where I live. We hit 105 in June with 80% humidity. Brutal…
I love the heat! Over 100 f for a day or two here. After an experience of -40 or possibly colder (the thermometer didn’t go any lower!) I decided to enjoy the heat and bitch about the cold!
I can always deal with the cold. You can put more clothes on and move and dance to warm up. There are only so many layers of clothes you can take off and lack of movement.
Even in the UP of Michigan we’ve had days in the 90s this pt week. Humidity can get into the 90s as well.
bob, your logic is sound, and I’m proficient at layering. That being said, the heat agrees with me better, and having had to use the great outdoors as a restroom when the thermometer freezes, I require little more experience with the bitter cold- maybe now I’m just more Santa Fe than Winnipeg.
@slide. Your in Louisiana too right? It’s been murder here. Wish I could work nights all through summer
@ItsMajick - yes. Up around Shreveport.
@slide. Cool man, Baton Rouge here. I think we might possibly be the only 2 Snuffers in Louisiana
@slide. Cool man, Baton Rouge here. I think we might possibly be the only 2 Snuffers in Louisiana
It certainly fells that way at times.
I did hook up a college student a sampling of many kinds of snuff. He is from Baton Rouge but goes to Tech.
So that makes 3 of us!
