ABBEY ROAD. Well done Transistor. First of all, my apologies for not getting on earlier - as ridiculous, evil luck would have it my router crashed mid-post yesterday and I have had to come to a library to post this, however… Firstly, thanks for taking part; obviously tempers got a a bit frazzled but let’s just confine that to history. Let me tell you how this thing evolved. Prison Break. My boy was watching this show and I happened to see at one point the main character using his cell phone to create a coded message. So, I devised what was in effect a ‘one time pad’. OTPs are codes that can only be used once; the person sending the message uses a unique page of code in a code book and sends his message, plus an identifier, to the recipient. Without the corresponding sheet in an identical code pad the recipient can not decode the message. The code was boxed in groups of five figures; this is standard and serves to hide patterns from easily guessed words (and, is, why, how etc) emerging. On the first day of the competition that was the state you guys were in: you could not possibly get it at that point. My intention, as I said, was to drip feed clues - just to make it slightly more fun than my last competition, which was cracked with the aid of Google in a few hours. So, the clues you had were: 999, Cell, Key, which I tried to make understandable whatever side of the pond you are at. Added up those clues pointed to a cell phone based problem. The following day I posted the entire key to enable you to decode. All of the cell phone clues were missed and until other websites were involved so was the key. I DO NOT HAVE A PROBLEM WITH HOW IT WAS SOLVED!! All fair in love and war! As you know, cracking the code just took you to a cryptic crossword type clue, again I figured that would be more fun.The question, as some of you know, was “Quiet regent at the end of which road?”. I am a massive fan of The Beatles. The song ‘Her Majesty’ is at the end of the ‘Abbey Road’ album, and goes: 'Her majesty’s a pretty nice girl but she doesn’t have a lot to say…etc etc. Maybe I will make the next one more simple:)

Figures an American who can just walk to the store and buy Silver Dollar snuff would win, as for the rest of the world we’ve been screwed out of Silver Dollar snuff yet again. And for those of us who are not members of snuson (or have friends who are members and can message us the question) we’ve been doubley screwed!

Damn, I was looking at it as a cryptic crossword, but I guess I was looking at it like that too much.

C

Should have figured that a guess would have got it.

So an incomplete code to waste a days worth of guessing and then misuse of the word regent, since a regent is not a monarch but someone who rules in place of a monarch who is either a minor or not mentally fit to rule. So in short it was just a massive guessing game till someone hit the right street. Not a competition, just randomness. A reminder to myself should I spend time on the next “competition”. Either way, way to go transistor, I am trying to follow your example of harsh and bitter irate posting till I hit the answer, it seems to have worked for you, hehehehe. Ken

Just for a reference, one does not have to register to be a member of snuson to read their forum.

Darn, and I thought I had it. I was way over thinking it…haha… Congrats transistor!

Congratulations indeed, I also overthought somewhat in multiple wrong directions and even convinced myself I may have had it a couple of times. Sounds like an awesome prize though, make good use of it.

I named the most famous street that I knew from England. It paid off. 9= beatles, I have a picture of them walking down that very road, so it was an “educated” guess. It paid off! I was SOOOOOO FRUSTRATED I was actually getting pissed off. I had the code and all the clues written on a paper and carried it around with me. Seriously. I worked on this for literally like an entire day… @revnobody thanks for your help man. You are really cool for helping me out. Send me a PM with your home address bud. Karma’s awesome… @n9inchnails I have looked and looked for that SD snuff and can’t find it ANYWHERE, NOR anyone that’s even willing to attempt an order! So NO, I can’t just walk into a store and buy some. And ALSO, I’m not a member of snuson either. Which I will admit- it’s unfair that some could get the question and others couldn’t strictly because of that forum, etc. Luckilly my immature NAGGING didn’t annoy TOO much and someone helped me out with the sentence/question. Otherwise I dunno what would have happened… Anyways thanks everyone. I promise to do a Silver Dollar review when I receive my prize!

Wow, quite the contest! Congrats to you Rob !

My guess was Place de la Revolution/Concorde which is where Louis XVI (the “silent king”) was executed. I thought “at the end” had a double meaning. Very well done puzzle!

Sorry if you didn’t win! I may have used ‘regent’ (should have spelled ‘regnent’) incorrectly but…what the hell. It was meant to be fun!! Better luck next time.
