I have some experience with Scotch snuff, but would like to find an American version of a Toast…more tobacco, less BBQ. I don’t want to spend too many $$$ and end up with several that are very similar in profile. Any advice is welcome, and thank you in advance.
Starr is an almost toast-like scotch, plain with very little BBQ
Yes, Starr, but its hard to find. Although I must say it doesn’t have much tobacco flavor either. Its very plain.
I always thought W.E. Garrett Scotch was the most complex scotch but it definitely has hickory smoke to it and I assume you’ve had it. I find plenty of tobacco scent in it myself.
I am not an expert, but I’m not personally aware of any American toast. I absolutely adore the smokey scotches… but if you’re looking for more of a toast, I’ve heard good things about F&T High Dry Toast.
Try the peach from American snuff co. Its like a sweet toast IMO
YESSSS. Peach is an excellent American snuff, perhaps my second favorite of them all. I’d highly recommend that one if you can get it locally.
Thanks to all for the help. I’m off for an American snuff adventure this afternoon, and will try to find the snuffs listed. I have about a pound of WE Garrett, so no need to replenish; I go through HDT by the bucketful, buying it bulk several times a year. I got serious about it back in the mid eighties when F&T still made it. Wilsons does a fine job with it, so no regrets.
try mixing a scotch with a toast maybe?
