A friend introduced me to a tobacco store near me that had a decent amount of snuff. Unfortunately, most of the snuff that they carry is sweet scotches, not plain scotches. They do have Dental, Bruton, and W.E. Garrett which is awesome. I’ve never tried any American sweets and I was wonder which, if any, I should try. From memory, they have Garrett Sweet and Mild, Tops Sweet, Buttercup, and Railroad Mills Sweet. Any recommendations?
Only one of those that I’ve tried is Garrett Sweet & Mild, which is a good one. I’ve heard good things about Buttercup but never tried it myself. Definitely try Swisher Wild Cherry and Honey Bee if you can find it!
HONEYBEE!
I don’t care much for sweets anymore, but I still enjoy Tops Sweet, so I would recommend that one, and I definitely echo James S. and transistor on the Honey Bee…one of the nicest, smoothest sweets out there, without tasting too sugary sweet!!
Buttercup! Its like sniffing hot cocao.
Buttercup AND Honeybee AND Tops Sweet!!!
I like the RR Mills Sweet as a dip. I seem to recall it being Nicotine Rush’s biggest seller (so 50 snuff users can’t be wrong).
I have always had an affinity for Lorllards Sweet. Some of that may have to do with the packaging.
Swisher Wild Cherry is over-rated imho and please dont get me wrong - i am far away from not liking Swisher products
I’m quite partial to that one as well. It’s not in your face cherry, mind you, but good all the same. YMMV.
Dang, it’s been a while since I had that “in your face cherry”, Stokes ; )
Well, my friend, sounds like something you need to tell your wife… and not me! Ha!
You ain’t kidding! I’m glad you’re back…and not just for marital advice, ol chum!LOL!
It has been a busy couple of months. The dust has finally settled.
@cstokes4 LOL!
I’m leaning more towards Railroad Mills Sweet or Tops Sweet. I can’t remember whether or not they had Tube Rose which kinda sounds alright too. Thanks for the input.
Tube Rose is one I’d start with, Jmike
Ditto that…Tube Rose is nice…it’s almost not a sweet in my book because it has such a different flavor. Also, if you can find some Checkerberry…definitely go for that!!!
I have to represent for Society. I think it is the most interesting of the Sweet Scotches. Trouble with sweets, for me, is that they tend to clump up in the nose. But they have a nice “drain” at the back of the throat which can be quite appealing.
I like using Garrett Sweet & Mild as a blending ingredient. As far as snuffing an American sweet as is, I prefer Honey Bee for that. I’ve got a couple of vintage cans of DeVoe Sweet that I like very much, too – they have a great apple/cinnamon flavor to me. I’m not sure if that’s due to aging, as I haven’t yet compared the vintage to a fresh can.
