Why do they all suggest putting it in the mouth and never even mention “sniffing” it? I’ve tried dipping it and it’s terrible that way! I think it’s strange…Also- is there a difference between Levi Garrett Scotch and Rapee in the bottle and WE Garrett scotch in the can?
Once when I first bought Rooster, I decided to try some in the mouth. Well short story even shorter, I ended up with my head under the kitchen faucet for a while, rinsing my mouth out. The only time I tried again was with CheckerBerry, which isn’t that bad. It reminds me of toothpaste, so that saves me time in the morning! Al
Interestingly enough putting it in the mouth is how they do it in India too. I tried it once and it was like taking a mouthful of dust. Didn’t like it at all. But it is still popular in teh South (US) apparently, especially with older women.
yeah but what’s strange is they ONLY seem to instruct placing it in the mouth- no mention at all of nasal use on any instruction booklets I’ve ever seen. That’s strange to me…I wonder why? But is Levi Garett the same as WE Garett snuff?
bryan, they are virtually the same grind but they are different in scent. Not substantially, but enough that you can tell the difference. They are 2 different snuffs.

" You can make a handy scoop for taking dry dip, and deposit about a pea-sized lump between the cheek and gums, without getting it all over your tongue, which does indeed suck.Take a plastic beverage straw like you get from McD’s and trim it to about 3”, or 80mm. Then snip one end at a 45 degree angle, more or less. Instant scoop. Let your lower lip close over the tobacco lump and don’t try to move it around. For beginners, I’d suggest a sweet variety, as it’s a lot easier to take. The tobacco tea will start to flow out of it when it gets wet with your saliva. The nicotine hit is quite strong for the uninitiated. When it’s played out, rinse the particles out with some water. It’s highly addictive, so be forewarned.

Here is a straw scoop that I made and have been using for a long time similar to what stitch is talking about. It works great to refill a bullet or snuffbox, when you shove it in the snuff, it loads up almost to the cork then just give a light tap and it dumps out. Works great when your F&T tins get low. And can be used to put some snuff in your lip but I usually just pull out my lip & drop a pinch in. I tend to put it in the front between gum & lip, it tends to stay in place better there. Thats a small cork at the end.

I gave it a try in the mouth with some wilsons raspberry as we dont have the American snuffs over here - cant say i’m much of a fan of using snuff this way, maybe it was the wilsons raspberry which is rank anyway but it tasted nasty and burnt my gum/lip 
Yeah the english line of snuffs aren’t meant to be used orally. If your going to use an english line, stick with a plain tobacco snuff.
Can you use tube rose or peach like this too? Using snuff in the mouth is not unheard of that is how the snus world was born in sweden
I’ll stick with snus in my lip and snuff in my nose. Although I haven’t been into the American snuffs. I think I would rather chew on a twist than suck on some powder.
I’m with you Juxtaposer. I like SNUS when I really need some heavy nicotine. I also like to chew on tobacco bits or small pieces cut from some rope. I have a little funnel I use that actually is threaded at the end and fits my bullets perfectly. It came with a snuff grinding kit I bought at the local head shop for around $17 american dollars. I’d really like to try some more American Snuffs because I like my WE Garrett very much. I like it by itself and also to mix a little in with some SP or Toque Natural snuff. It just adds a little kick that’s nice. That’s a very good idea with the straw. Hey Trout- when are you going to start offering your Acorn snuff boxes? Tomorrow I’m going fishing on the ocean on a sport boat with dad and son. I’ll bring what I have which is SG Scotch SP…I used up all the Garrett in my box so I’ll have to stop by the liquor store and get more on the way because I can’t fish without that stuff!
