I know we moan about royal mail here in the uk but dam !!! I have for the first time found out how bad it is first hand it’s an anomaly I mean ok I did a snuff swap here and I got my snuff after 4/5 days not bad but what is bad is my tub has not got their yet infant I’m refunding money via PayPal it’s 3-4 weeks now no snuff … Why is it so quick to send stuff out the USA but to get stuff in is a nightmare ???
I just ordered from Mr. Snuff on Monday and I got my stuff in today. I was impressed as I live in the middle of nowhere in the northwestern part of the country. My order from toque only took a day longer.
No way. When I lived in the UK, I could not get parcels delivered to my address. I lived in an apartment building, and the postman just didn’t bring parcels up because he couldn’t be arsed to carry them. Insetead, he used to post a ‘sorry, you weren’t home’ card and I’d have to wait 24 hours and then drive 45 minutes to get my parcel from the depot. He used to fill in the cards in advance amd just pop them through the letterbox. One day, I saw him through my peephole and opened the door as he was putting the card through. He told me he’d been ringing my doorbell, and I pressed it to show him that there was no way I wouldn’t have heard it. I asked him for my parcel, and he said it was in the van, so I asked him how he was planning to deliver it. He ignored the question, amd said he’d bring it up and never came back. I complained each and every time this happened, must have been at least 20 times, and each time I was told it was an ‘agency driver’. What made it worse was that the orders were for my business, so it was more than just an inconvenience. I couldn’t get stuff mailed to my store, because we opened after the parcel delivery time. Bunch of idiots. By contrast, my American mailman knows me, my wife and our kids by name, and has delivered heavy packages when there’s been three foot deep snow on the ground. When he knew I was waiting for some important immigration papers, he drove to my job (which is pretty near my home) to make sure he could put them in my hands. Absolute night and day difference.
Yeap, sometimes it takes awhile to get stuff. I’m on the other end of the trade with Joe. edm
I’ve sent quite a few parcels to the UK, and received more than a few from the UK as well. Not just snuff parcels, but also sending and receiving cards and small gifts to/from friends. I can’t say I’ve had much of a problem with either the USPS or the Royal Mail. Sure, occasionally a package is delayed, but that could happen with any delivery service. The only real difference I can see is that UK postal workers seems to go on strike about once a year, on average, whereas I can’t recall the last time (if ever) that US postal workers walked out on their jobs.
It’s just a different work ethic. One of my friends is also a mailman, and I can tell from talking to him about his job that he feels a real sense of duty towards it. My experience of UK postal workers (I had a temporary job with the royal mail years ago) is that they have the mindset of the unions of the 80’s.
I’m all for waiting for the package, I have a bunch of snuff and not worried, will get here eventialy (sp). edm
I’ve had no serious delay on tobacco/ snuff orders in the UK. It takes months to get snus from the US. Perhaps it’s coming by paddle steamer.
I’ve never had any problems with mail or private carrier deliveries, not even force majeure, guess I’ve been lucky.
Well the tub made it to me today. must have to the long way around. edm
Despite recent changes, I am very happy with my mail service. I think the issues being discussed here have more to do with a recent, global work ethic, or lack there of, then an isolated issue in a particular industry or service. The same “quality of service” mentality is rampant in successful corporations of the private sector, as well. I think due to the nature of the mail being delivered every day, the mail is more visible for the average person than a corporation like Apple, for example.
I think its potluck - given there must be literally billions of packages going back and forth. I have only ever had two long delays on packages I sent from the UK and one was to South Africa.
My snus from US arrived just short of a month after I ordered it. I can handle that becuase it’s slow but reliable (up till now).
everyone makes mistakes we just get really mad and concerned when it’s cops, mail service, and doctors.
